Unique setting, interesting features
Everything I read in other recent reviews rings true. We were in a room on the upper level, which required us to climb outdoor staircases to reach. Checking in, the staffperson led us up a flight of rustic outdoor stone stairs with a railing at calf height, and I wondered how I would ever get down. In the morning I saw there was a set of nicely finished stairs to the side, leading to the breakfast room, pool and lobby. Our room was basically fine - only one small issue with a bathroom door that scraped the floor when opened. You just needed to lift it when opening. Our room had a small patio that afforded wonderful views of the sea. Yes, the power lines were there, but there are power lines everywhere I went in Greece. All the rooms I saw had jetted tubs in them (in the main part of the room, not the bathrooms). Each room had a unique layout. The flooring and cabinetry showed some wear and tear but didn’t affect our stay. The rooms near the pool seemed smaller (I was in three of them) and everyone on that level that I spoke to reported drainage problems. Several had odd features on their patios, like small empty wading pools or tubs. It gave the property an unfinished look, but didn’t detract from the experience. Mykonos is very windy, so comments about dirt on patios are to be expected. Staff could clean all day and leaves and twigs would still blow in every night. Location is outside the main old town, so you would have to take a bus (stop is just up the road) or taxi. Although there is a beach across the street, you cannot walk all the way to town on it. There is no way it would be safe to walk on the narrow twisty road. Overall, this hotel had pluses and minuses. Despite any problems, you are still on Mykonos!
Would never stay here again.
This was very disappointing. When we arrive we were very excited with the facilities and our room, but off the bat it was strange because we were put in a room that had the bed upstairs on a loft(pic attached). The ceiling there was so low we could not even stand up straight. Then we started to discover that many things in our room were literally falling apart. The faucet was so loose that it nearly fell off whenever I touched it. Towel rack was also loose and hanging off the wall. Bar for holding onto in case you slip in the shower was also VERY loose... thank god I didn’t slip because I probably would have pulled the darn thing right out of the wall. The shelf for toiletries in the shower was attached to that too so everything kept falling off. Shower was massive but the drain didn’t work so the water puddled and leaked out under the shower door all over the bathroom floor. When when closed, there was a giant gap between front door and door frame so the bugs and light and god knows what else could get in easily. Beetles and ants EVERYWHERE in our room. The first night we saw a few, killed them, and moved on. But the second night was just awful. Came back after dinner to an army of ants in the room trying to eat dead beetles. In the bathtub, on the floor, window curtains, everywhere!!!! Disgusting. there was also a left over note with a coffee stain on it that the people cleaning the room never removed... so clearly they were paying close attention to detail! We then Requested a new room and I was still finding LIVE BEETLES in my suitcase for a few hours. In our new room, there were wires sticking out of holes in the wall, shower was very grimy, and no shower curtain. Also, the ocean/sunset view is blocked by huge power lines and a transformer box so you can’t take any decent pictures from the room balconies or pool area anyway.
Short taxi ride from Mykonos Town (Chora)
Hotel has a nice location and potential but it needs renovation. Doors need maintenance, electronic locks are not dependable. Our room had a bath tub with a hand held shower and no shower curtain. The hinges for our water closet door were falling out of the wall.
Very disappointing for a 4 star hotel
There are definitely some improvements that need to be made to this hotel. The hotel seems to be unfinished with drilling being done by the pool while my friend and I were relaxing on a sunbed (we were the only 2 people at the pool, and it was usually empty, so this drilling really did not need to be done while we were there!!). Even though parts look unfinished, the sunbeds and bathroom definitely need another coat of paint because they look tired. Not all the sunbeds had cushions. The rooms are very bland which makes them seem basic, some artwork on the walls would really liven them up. The main issue is the complete lack of staff, several times we would go to reception desk and there wouldn't be anyone there. Furthermore, we didn't know who was a staff member and who wasn't because the staff don't wear a uniform (which isn't a problem) but some kind of name badge would be helpful. The selection at breakfast should be better for a 4 star hotel. Perhaps having a staff member to greet guests as they come to breakfast would make the guests feel welcome and help to disseminate a professional approach because it would be very easy to go through your entire stay without seeing a member of staff. Additionally, we left our 'do not disturb' on the door because we did not want maid service yet, however the maid knocked on door anyway and came to clean our room, clearly ignoring the sign. The best thing about this hotel is that the bed was very comfy and the free transport to the airport was really useful. However, don't go to this hotel expecting a 4 star service and 4 star comforts, because you won't get them. I am just very glad that I found a deal on lastminute.com so didn't pay full price otherwise I would've been very disappointed.
