Marrisott Lies about Cleanliness for Covid
We had to leave home for the first time since Covid lockdown for a dr appt in Tuscaloosa AL. Due to all of Marriott's emails regarding new cleaning procedures we felt safe booking our stay Wed night Sept 2nd at your Fairfield Inn. Maybe they are only deep cleaning specific hotels? Our room was filthy! The tub wouldn't drain so you stand in dirty water while showering -- it finally emptied after about 10 minutes. I took pictures if you are interested in seeing them. Avoid.
Nice room
The front desk agent was really friendly and a Green Bay Packers fan which was really cool. Room was on the second floor next to the elevator. Was afraid that I'd be woken up by people on the elevator, but I slept very well. Did not wake up during the night at all. Kept the fan of the AC going all night to drown out traffic noise since the freeway was close. Didn't hear anything. Out of all the rooms I stayed at on my road trip, this had the best overall setup to the room. It had a great workspace with the tv on one side and fridge/microwave/coffee on the other. Plenty of room at the desk for all my stuff. Really easy to work on my laptop and be close to things I needed. Toilet did not flush well. Shower pressure ok but not enough water. They have Paul Mitchell dispensers. Shampoo was tea tree that obviously had menthol in it which was weird. Then the conditioner and body wash were lemon sage which doesn’t really go with the mint. Nice that they were dispensers so I had enough for my long hair. The art was weird, but still a great room. They leave hand sanitizing wipes!!! I think the maids were loud and yelling in the hall after 8AM, but not positive it was them.
Worst sleep ever
First stay ever we usually stay at HILTON Brands. I have to say this is probably one of the worst beds I have slept in. The mattress has zero support and is a saggy mess. These hotels have been sitting empty the past few months so there is no reason the bedding should be of this poor quality. Also loud rattling AC. This is an old hotel that hasn’t been properly maintained I suggest avoid.
Great service by Angelica
During a storm, late at night, we had water pouring in our window and Angelica was very professional and outstanding in handling the situation. She looked at the amount of water coming in and quickly moving us to a new room that would also last our 5-night stay.
Good overnight stay
We only stayed here for an overnight stay. Check-in: Easy and quick. Check-in clerk was courteous, but not that warm; because of COVID, she was behind a plastic barrier. Room: very spacious room, very clean. Very comfortable bed. Microfridge very small and not very deep. No dedicated freezer compartment. Microwave worked well. AC was reasonably quiet and did not interfere with sleep. It was easy to operate. The tub has a non-slip bottom and a rail to hold onto in the shower. Towels were comfortable. Soap, conditioner, and shampoo were in dispensers in the shower. Property: Masks are not always consistently used throughout facility. Breakfast not available due to COVID, but To-Go bags were given out. No pets allowed. Location: close to highway but not direct. Some eating places nearby and easy to access.
