Nice hotel in the center of Tuxtla!

I really enjoyed my stay in Maria Eugenia Hotel! The staff was very friendly with me, the breakfast delicious, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. If you get a higher floor you can have a nice view over the city.

Review for Viajes Kali Tour Company

Avaliou em 3 de fevereiro de 2016

This review is for the tour company that is run out of the hotel. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our experience. My husband and I do not speak Spanish well, a fact that was known upon booking. Instead of providing us with a knowledgeable guide, we were driven around Chiapas for 3 days in a small airport taxi with a driver and his English-speaking daughter who had never even visited the sites we were seeing. We paid for a tour guide and we received a chofer. Additionally, our proposal included "all activities included, all activities private." That was not the case as we went on a boat ride with 20 other people and were asked to pay extra to go on a canoe at another location. I am sure there are many wonderful tour companies in Chiapas, but this is not one I would recommend.

Terrible

If you get a high discount, for example through some booking website, and you have to stay one night.. Maybe you can do it. Anyway the building is old and gloomy, the first impression when the elevator's door open brings you directly into a ghost movie. Everything here is old and falling into pieces. Air conduct in bathroom are connected to other rooms so that you hear all what they do and they hear all what you do. Stay away.

Good price, but let down in the end

So I was spending one night in Tuxtla before heading back to Mexico city and then home. Since I was traveling with a business friend and not my wife, standards where not as high and we look for a cheap place. Under 50$ was our goal, again this was just a spend the night and head to airport kind of stay. The hotel location is fairly good, right on a the Main Street, one bus to go to malls and plazas or walk to see some stores. The hotel itself looked nice, it really looked like a 5 star place and for 50$ it seemed like a bargain. It had a small but dirty pool, probably rainy season did not help. The people were nice and attentive. They seemed to have build a new section of the hotel wich the called "Suits" same price for now but no elevator! So 3 flight or stairs later to run in the room and seek comfort under the AC. Good wifi, nice beds, good showers. It was NOT a 4 star place but 50$! So the Let down? Breakfast... It wasn't what anyone would think! There is a Buffet but you have to pay 99 pesos PAX (6.6 USD) Not a lot and I wish I had done it. Included in my stay was a "continental breakfast" I am not sure in what Continent they could ever eat like this. Obviously I googled "continental breakfast" nope don't match either.... So luckily I had left over pizza! Breakfast was: coffee... Fruit juice... And a small plate of cookies!! Yes 5 cookies for me and my friend! LET DOWN! So... Pay your 6.6 USD and enjoy the fruit, and eggs Buffet!
