Went there for a meeting last night. I was charged $35. The rolls were the high point of the meal. Mixed salad was OK. Ample size size but somewhat tasteless. The meat was hot and well cooked but bland. The mixed vegetables were just ok. They didn’t serve desert. Coffee was undrinkable. I’ll recommend not going there again!
Stayed here one night could have stayed longer to enjoy golf course and spa
This hotel was clean but definitely needs to have the rooms renovated. It's an old hotel so it's worn looking and has that "grandma's house" smell. Property was beautiful and there was a wedding going on while we were there so we enjoyed a wonderful fireworks display courtesy of the bride and groom. We didn't have time to try the restaurant but the menu looked good.
We had our daughter’s wedding ceremony and reception here in July, booking almost the entire hotel for our guests. Although the venue is beautiful and most of the evening went as planned, several important pieces were not as promised. After writing a fair and balanced letter to the general manager, we received a response about a month later. He denied all of our claims of dissatisfaction and several of his responses were just downright lies. For example, he tried to tell us we paid $400 less for 1 hour of consumption bar than we did, but we have the bank statement to prove it. Never once did he admit to anything or apologize for our justified complaints. If you plan an event here, make sure you hire someone to oversee everything because the management will not. Also be prepared to pay extra for many things that should be included. Such a shame for a venue with such potential.
A Special Hotel
My husband and I spent 5 nights at Traditions at the Glen Hotel and Spa at the end of July. We were so glad that after many trips to the Binghamton/Johnson City area we found this wonderful hotel which was a departure from our usual chain hotel choices. The hotel was originally a mansion built in 1918 and later became private accommodations for IBM executives who travelled to the area. It has the feel of stepping into someone's home--so warm and charming. The room we had was very comfortable, with a good bed, and nice appointments. We particularly enjoyed the hot continental breakfast. The bacon and eggs were freshly and perfectly cooked each morning. They provided a high quality yogurt and delicious fresh fruit, as well as cereal and bakery items. It was a good way to begin each day. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and we enjoyed sitting outside to read the morning newspaper. My only complaint was that the wifi service in the room was spotty. There seemed to be a stronger signal in the business area room. There is a golf course on site that used to be the IBM golf course. It is a very pretty mountain course and the greens are immaculate. The fairways were not in as good condition but still playable. The service at the hotel was excellent-- friendly and helpful. The entire experience felt like being in a B&B although the hotel is part of the Choice Hotel chain. It has become our new "same time next year" destination and I am already looking forward to it!
Honestly, the venue is quite nice. However, if you elect to book a room, do so through Expedia where you can insure that your reservation is changeable. I booked 2 rooms directly with the hotel and, when I was unable to make the trip because my elderly father had fallen and couldn't travel, the hotel stood behind an inflexible policy rather than acting like human beings with compassion. I didn't even demand a refund, just a credit for a future stay when my dad was able to travel again but they refused. Personally, I'd rather that anyone reading my review didn't stay there at all. If you do, just make sure you protect yourself but booking through a third-party site like Expedia. #boycottTraditions
