Worst visit ever
Bad review lady up front was rude.. my daughters birthday and we couldn’t have guest that came to see her.. she came and kicked everyone out! Plus other people were there with a small speaker and she made them turn it off note that this was around 5 or 6 in the evening... she said people were complaining about loud noise!! Rooms also smelled funky... not a good experience over all
Ok but would rather not
First they were SUPER crowded for holiday weekend after Corona restrictions were listed, so they were awesome! Staff was great! I would stay here again if I have to. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The room SMELLED HORRIBLY like cat pee! It was nauseating. The carpet has come away from the threshold. It needs to be taken up and discarded. We didn’t talk to management. They were fully booked and I can’t imagine what they would have been able to do. Like I said though, it was clean and beds comfortable.
Our team stayed at this hotel for a tennis tournament. The rooms were being refurbished with new mattresses. So there was a mess of old mattresses and new ones around the property, but it was fine. The rooms that were done were nice and clean. We have been staying at this property for many years, it was first a Holiday Inn, then a Quality Inn, now a Days Inn. It is a nice older hotel and the refurbished rooms are very nice. We will stay there again.
Needs Better Customer Service
The first thing I need to say about the Days Inn is that it is clean. The room we got met our needs. The free breakfast also met our needs. The one issue with the room is that the TV cuts off by itself every so often and then comes back on in a few seconds. However, I rated it as "poor", rather than "average" because of customer service issues. The first issue occurred on check-in. I had booked this hotel through naming my own price on a third party application. One of the conditions for booking this way is that I, the customer, understand that the hotel can book me into the twin occupancy room of its choice. However, when we checked in, there were very few guests. (In fact, in the morning there were still very few guest). When I checked in, the desk clerk told me that we were getting a room with a queen bed. I asked if I could get a room with a king bed and she told me that her room system wouldn't let her switch my room. If the hotel had been close to full, I would have understood. However, the hotel also had the choice to grant my request and it did not. One of the differences between good service and average or bad service is finding ways to satisfy your customer that are within reason and not making excuses not to meet reasonable requests from customers. Days Inn did not make a reasonable effort to satisfy me. Also, the hotel has an 11:00 checkout. At 9:40, the maid knocked loudly on the door and announced herself. We informed her that that we were not ready to leave the room. She then asked, "How much time do you need?" We felt pressured to hurry up and get out - Incredible. Its a good thing we had not slept in. When I went to check out, I had to wait behind a couple that was experiencing a complicated billing issue that appeared to also be the fault of the hotel. I saved a few bucks staying at this hotel, but next time I will spend an extra $20 to get what I want with better service.
Best Customer Service in Town
I like to preface my reviews with the following: "I book over 10,000 room nights a year amounting to over $2 million dollars. I also have over 3yrs experience in hotel management, so I can assure you that my review is based off experience and knowledge. I also don't review hotels until I have amounted a minimum of over 100 room nights at their location to give a fair review.", but I'm making an exception for this hotel. The Days Inn is dated and not physically appealing, BUT over the course of the 8 weeks I have learned that they are the best hotel in Uvalde, TX. Sure, there are newer, fancier hotels nearby, but they are all missing a critical point of hospitality: HOSPITALITY. -From the moment of Check-In the front desk team was helpful, genuine and kind to our crews; going above and beyond to make them feel welcome. -The cleaning staff did a fantastic job keeping our field workers rooms clean as well, which is no small task i promise. -Management understood that our line of work can have sudden changes that require crews to head out early or even show up a day late. You won't find another hotel in the area as flexible. I hope the owners of the property realize how amazing a team they have here and invest in updates/remodels. All it needs is a good cosmetic "Glow up" and they would out perform every other property in the area. Especially considering all the business coming to Uvalde.
