First of all this hotel is not by the lake, it’s surrounded by forest and just between Valle de Bravo and Avandaro, so if you are planning to visit both places, this is a great spot.
The hotel is bigger than it looks in pictures, and it’s located inside a residential complex, so in terms of security you can be relaxed.
Rooms are really big and a bit cold, but not to worry cause they’re equipped with two types of heating devices, one powered by gas and also a small but really cool fireplace that the staff will gladly start for you in a couple of minutes. Beds are extreme comfy, lots of pillows and cotton linens. Shower is ok, with toiletries included. There’s also cable TV and water bottles in your room included with your reservation. My room had no good wi-fi, but the restaurant and common areas had a really fast one.
The restaurant is big with a nice bar and open spaces, all covid-19 security measures were taken; food quality was good, drinks were excellent! Prices were good too, compared to other hotels in the area.
The pool area was my favourite! Surrounded by tanning chairs, tables with umbrellas and a small snack bar that was closed at the moment. The pool is heated maybe 5 feet deep, with a shallow pool beside it and a hot tub on the other side. There’s service of food and drinks to the pool although no glassware is allowed, you’ll get your beer or Bloody Mary in a disposable eco-friendly cup.
We also noticed a spa with different types of services from body massage, to facials and aromatherapy, but we did not have enough time to try them. There’s also a fire pit area, and for $20 a staff member will start the fire for you and your party to enjoy the night and make some s’mores!
They have parking by the front desk without extra charge. Taxi service 24 hours (although you might want to call 10-15 minutes in advance before you want to leave.
In overall it was a nice experience, we only spend 2 nights there for a wedding, but we’re looking forward to go back for another one!

The hotel is beautiful! It's quite a winding road to get there but worth it. The rooms are spacious with beautiful beds and bath tub. The restaurant is also beautiful. Great hospitality and food! Perfect for a weekend getaway.

We stayed at Hotel El Rebozo on December 16 -18th. We were the only two guests at the hotel as it was low season still, but Irma the owner greeted us with such warmth. She literally embraced us and helped us manage what might have been a difficult stay, as we do not speak Spanish. We wanted to see the butterflies, so she helped arrange this and had her cook make us a special traditional Mexican dinner for a birthday celebration. She truly was a great host.
A small world within the woods

With a fireplace in our room, we had a perfect setting for a nice conversation that lasted long. In the morning, the view of the surrounding forest is beautiful, and a walk on the gardens opens up the apetite. We felt like in a large home, and the staff was very attentive and kind.
