Nightmare Birthday Stay

Pros: -staff hospitable (minus manager) - room clean, full fridge, heat/ac unit quiet Cons: -Bed, pillows, manager Background: (Long but hopefully helpful) As a busy mom who works full time, there’s not much time to designate for myself. After recently losing loved ones, I decided for my birthday I wanted to put an emphasis on self care which included a 3 night hotel staycation (2/22-25/2022) by myself! I was so excited that upon check-in I asked the person handling the front desk how to extend my stay for 1 more night. Checking in, the evening of 2/22, I noticed a clean room and full size fridge. Perfect for my stay, but any joy I felt changed when I went to sleep. I woke up on 2/23 with neck pain. Initially, I thought it was solely the pillows. So to try and not make a fuss, I went home and brought my own pillow for the night of 2/23, thinking that would solve my issues. I was wrong. I woke up in such terrible neck pain I could barely move, which led me to realize it was the bed. The neck pain led to a migraine which got so severe I became nauseous and threw up. What was supposed to be self-care damaged my body in such a severe way it was hard to function (move, bend, etc.). I called the front desk, and spoke to a manager, who identified herself as Deborah Harris. I shared that I could not stay and needed to check out early and asked for a credit due to my reason for leaving being the bed discomfort. She begrudgingly agreed. Too sick to drive, I called my husband to come get me, he left work to do so. When it was time to check out, Deborah and Heather (hospitable) were there and refused to give me a refund and any documentation that showed I checked out early. I was told bc I booked through a 3rd party the refund request would need to come from them and I would receive a receipt showing I left early the next day. All lies. The receipt I received showed my regular booking dates, not a reflection of my early checkout. And the hotel told the 3rd party that I stayed there the entire time so they won’t refund me. I was scammed! Additionally, Deborah invalidated my experience saying she only heard great things about the bed, suggested I was sick from something else, and implied I was making it up just to get a refund. Realistically, I have had to go to the chiropractor for my neck ever since this experience. I am appalled at the terrible professionalism displayed by Deborah. This was truly my worst experience in Vancouver. Save yourself - stay away!

Just not a good stay

Our stay was not good, unfortunately. Check in was fine and friendly, great. When he directed me to our room it was 10 feet to the left of the front desk. I was surprised and he said it was the last available room. Ok we will give it a shot. Room itself was not terrible but had a pet oder. We cranked up the fan and the air improved. We quickly discovered that the elevator shook the room every couple of minutes because it was right on the other side of the wall. Very very noisy. Woke up day 1 to a vacuum cleaner outside of our door at 4:56. We asked that they please don't vacuum that early, they did the same the next day. Ugh. We just wanted sleep. Ended up checking out early, we couldn't face one more night. Honestly they should not be putting anyone in this room, just turn it into a storage closet please. Other notes, very little lobby space to sit outside of your room and no seating outside if you want a bit of fresh air. When I told the front desk we were checking out early, she blurted out "You still have to pay!" I prepaid for the room, thanks, wasn't asking for any money back. Geez. There are other great hotels in the area. We tried this one out to save a few bucks. Learned our lessons

Excellent Experience

I had an unusual crisis. A kid was going upwards of 100 miles and ran his car thru my bedroom wall. I was displaced for 6 weeks and stayed here. The hotel was spotless. They were kind, friendly, and very helpful. And they put Exceptional Service in motion when the party responsible to pay the bill went “Missing In Action” and was “gone for the weekend-Wednesday the next week.” They allowed me to stay anyway and they had no obligation to accommodate me in this way. (Most hotels would never do the same). I could have been told I had to leave the night the card was denied. I was relieved by this extended grace period and it gave me the peace I needed to stay calm and feel safe again. The party responsible to pay eventually paid the rest of the bill, but it was extremely stressful. I can’t say “Thank You” enough for their kindness and consideration under the circumstances.

A Good Home While Traveling

Nice clean and spacious room; a good overnight stay that won't break your bank. Hotel is very conveniently located next to a major shopping mall. Food and shopping are within walking distance. Service staffs are cortious and helpful.

We have been to this hotel 3 times in the past year. The last visit I have a record from is March 28, 2022. The total then was $122.43. We booked for May 21, 2022, with an estimated total of $178.24. Inflation?? Upon departure, the total was $207.01. This is underhanded and dishonest. By the way, their lame icemaker in the "full size refrigerator" didn't work. The staff was nice. I have nothing against them at all. Just the corporate greed. Just plain *!#*!#*s. Never again.
