Cozy old house with comfortable room and good services

Avaliou em 13 de outubro de 2022

Wonderful experience. Very cozy and clean hotel. Old beautiful house, family run, well managed . Highly recommend. Worth to mention, the owner is a 106 year old lady, she is still running the hotel. Amazing! It’s located in the center of the sleepy town, some room has fantastic view of the old town and the gorge

Old world charm

If you find yourself in Venosa like we did, then you can't go wrong with this Hotel. It has an old world glamour to it. The view from our room across the valley was incredible. Brush up on your Italian and get ready to have fun in Venosa. Lots of love from Scotland

Very nice and histroic place

The hotel is an old building, it was home of the Order of Malta and then passed under local nobles now it is run by a family which was able to restructure it and bring back its amazing wall paintings. Rooms are clean and with A/c even if are a little small

Excellent Family Hotel

Wonderful warm welcome from family run business, town full of history and friendly people, excellent local restaurants and bars, order the local wine at 5 Euros a litre. Charming part of Italy away from beaten track, close to Lago Montecchio

Molto accogliente

A delightful sojourn! This hotel is modest in price (65 euro per night including breakfast) and furnishings (it's rated 2 stars), but the quiet accommodations are perfectly comfortable and the owners will make you feel like family (they live there). Hotel Orazio (named for the Roman poet Horace, a favorite son of Venosa) is in a 17th century Palazzo in the center of the Centro Storico of Venosa. It has a modest restaurant with good food (especially the frozen fruits stuffed with gelato for dessert). Don't forget to look up at the beautiful, Pompeii-inspired ceiling frescos when you have breakfast in the part of the restaurant that is on the first floor. There is limited parking and an elevator from the street level to the first floor reception; one flight of stairs takes you to the 6 or 8 rooms in the hotel. Our room, number 25, was at the back, with a small terrace overlooking the countryside; we slept very well and woke to the sounds of birds and a donkey braying in a farmyard in the valley below.
