No problems with this Hotel.
This is a 2-star hotel. The amenities are basic. You won't find Sterling silver buffet serving plates for breakfast. You get paper plates, cups, and plastic eating utensils. It works. The breakfast is sufficient with fresh made waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and continental style items such as bagels, cereal, danishes, muffins, fresh fruit, and yogurts. The hotel recording states that the indoor pool is heated which is false. Thankfully the hotel associates tell you during check-in that the pool is not heated. So, don't expect warmth during fall and winter months inside the pool which offsets the hotel. The hotels has a very small fitness area with dumbbells and 2 cardio machines. Just enough to get a small work out but don't expect Planet fitness or the YMCA. (2-Star hotel) The rooms and bathrooms are small but you have to remember that this is a 2-star hotel so you get what you pay for. The hotel has recently been remodeled so the rooms have newer carpet, updated bathrooms, and newer looking wall paper. You'll see small imperfections with aging hotels but nothing that is so noticeable that you'll be grossed out by. The beds are comfortable too! One negative but not a show stopper is that the hotel is located next to a train track and when trains go by, the entire hotel shakes. This happened 3 times over a 2 day stay. So, all in all, I had a good stay. The front desk associates are courteous. The hotels is close to restaurants and shopping. There is a Comfort Inn (Also a Choice Hotel) about 1 minute from the Quality Inn and charges close to $50.00 more per night for the same size rooms and Amenities. Keep the extra money in your pocket and stay at the Quality Inn if you are a Choice Hotel loyalist. My friends stayed at the Comfort Inn at the same time I did this weekend and were kicking themselves for choosing the Comfort Inn over the Quality Inn. I will stay at this Quality Inn again if I'm in Richmond again. The rating I gave of 3 stars is as high as I can give for a 2-star hotel based on room size and amenities. However, based on my experience all around, the hotel deserves 4-stars.
Quiet, good value for a good night's rest.
This hotel is conveniently located near I 95 but it is tucked in a little spot that kind of deadened the road noises. Check in was efficient, the room and bed were comfortable and it looked recently updated. Housekeeping was not great at dusting or cleaning corners, but I am picky about that. The sheets, towels and bathroom were spotlessly clean and that is most important. There is a nice indoor pool, but it is very cold and doesn't seem to be heated at all so it really isn't usable during winter.Breakfast was standard for this chain. The breakfast area was cramped and nearly every seat was taken so we had to take our food back to the room. In all, for the price paid, it was a perfectly pleasant stay.
Asthma sufferers beware
Overall the hotel was pleasant. Good location and nice, friendly front desk staff. The issue came in when we got off the elevator to be greeted with the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. Our room a non-smoking King was nice and spacious. I loved the window seat, standard fridge and microwave, however the room smelled like cigarette smoke. Even spraying lysol and air freshener didn't completely get rid of the odor. If you have asthma, COPD or any other respiratory issues, request a room on the 1st floor. The front desk clerk advised me that some floors had smoking rooms on one end and non-smoking on the other - ugghhh! My other issue was housekeeping. We had booked a 2 night and then a 4 night stay and for some reason, housekeeping was at the door at 9am. Even when asked to come back later, her later was 9:15, 9:30, 10:00 and 10:15. The next day we put the do not disturb sign on the door and went out around 11:30 to be told housekeeping would only empty the trash and change the towels if service wasn't done by 11am. We finally resolved the issue by tipping the housekeeper and asking that our room be serviced last. Room was very clean and only other issue was a broken wheel on the desk chair that kept coming off. Chair was neither fixed nor replaced even though maintenance looked at it. Would I stay here again- yes, but I would request a room on the first floor.
If I could give it no stars I would
Choice needs to make some different choices here! We used points to attempt to stay here.. We pulled up and we have been to some of the most rotten places and states in the US and myself and my boyfriend were afraid to get out of the vehicle and we drove off.. I even called choice to explain and they still would not give me my points back.. The entrance was covered with shady people and the parking lot as well, we have a business and carry a lot of our customers things in our trailer and was afraid of being robbed just by what we saw when we pulled up.. Do NOT stay here and I will be file a complaint with Choice corporate for not refunding us our points in such a terribly scary situation we feared for our safety..
Two and half sad stars
Tired. Dinghy. Downtrodden. Dated. Unhealthy? Perfect descriptors of this QI not to mention many of its patrons. There’s a sign out front that reads ‘newly remodeled’ but I’m not sure how long that sign has been there and if it has been newly remodeled - I shudder to think what it looked like prior. Anyway, if you’re booked here you’ll be happy to know the rooms were clean...ish. (I wouldn’t walk around barefoot though!) 😳
