Poor management presentation, but excellent staff
I stayed here for 3 days. I rated this hotel a 4 because the staff is on point, from front desk to maintenance to housekeeping to breakfast staff. Wilma and Kenneth are an unbeatable pair when it comes to working the dining area. The "full" breakfast was delicious and always well stocked. They kept the dining room clean and welcoming to all coming in, regardless of the time. I am unable to say the same about the general manager, Thabet. Not that he did anything super wrong, but the way he spoke to me on the phone. He made me feel as if I was a liar. So for all my fellow AAA members, I made my reservation via the AAA Website. Yes, I got a great deal! The hotel was without hot water for 2 days of my stay, mind you I was promised the day I checked in that it would be hot by that evening. Upon my departure, I asked to speak with the general manager, in which I had to leave my name and await a return phone call. I received the return phone call in a timely manner, however, Thabet let me know that he is calling me on his day off. When I mentioned I booked via AAA, he repeatedly told me I did not. He reminded me I got a good rate. He insisted I booked through a 3rd party and anything I may be looking for, that I need to go through them, because I paid through them. Please note, I did not pursue anything further because of how happy Wilma and Kenneth made me and my family feel after breakfast every morning. I was on a much needed relaxation trip with my mom and my two grandchildren. Besides the issue with the hot water, the room was acceptable, microwave and refrigerator included. Lobby very festive. Front desk staff very helpful, even the maintenance guy, in which that was a very funny story lol. Keeping it short, I had an inexpensive travel corkscrew trying to open a nice bottle of wine. Corkscrew broke, tried using a fork on the broken piece, fork then got stuck. Brought the whole contraption downstairs and between the hospitable front desk staff and maintenance guy, I was able to enjoy my awesome holiday gift. For all these reasons, I was able to discharge my negative thoughts of Thabet and give the Wyndham Garden Hotel Williamsburg Busch Gardens Area a rating of 4. I would return.
Great price just missing the mark for a Wyndham hotel.
In would like to say that the staff were very good. They were helpful and I could not have asked for better staff. The hotel lobby was nice and was clean. The parking was well lit and clean. The room was well appointed and for the most part clean. The bedding was very good with crisp sheets and great linens. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The hot water took about 5 minutes to make it to the tub, which is a huge wast of water. The tub spout was not installed correctly and the resulting gap was filled with a poorly applied calking. The towels and wash cloth were as thin as I have ever seen. Fix the hot water issue and the towel quality issue and the rest is an easy low cost fix.
Excellent Hotel for a weekend get away
Stayed here couple weekends before Christmas and everything was very nice from the check in to the breakfast meal to room. Room was clean and offered tv, microwave,refrigerator. The breakmeal was wonderful and thanks go out to the cook Kenneth and the waitress Wilma. She was so attentive and made sure we knew where everything was. I thought the location was perfect for touring Colonial Williamsburg, shopping, and enjoying some of the restaraunts.
Worst night ever!
Sheets were dirty and stained. It was disgusting.Bathroom had hair all over the toilet. Property is unkept. When moved to another room the door would not close completely so that allowed the hallway light to shine in the room.Will never stay again.
We had a wonderful time.
The people that work there are very friendly and always willing to help. There was one wonderful lady named Wilma that worked the breakfest, She was wonderful. When we was there it was decorated for Christmas. Beautiful. We will stay there again.
