Great staff and service.
The hotel itself is clean and comes with all the basics, nothing fancy but a nice affordable place in the Boston area. What made my stay excellent was the service of the staff, Christine at the front desk especially was always helpful and made me feel at home. Also the cleaning and maintenance staff were on top of everything. Would definitely stay again.
Worst experience ever
I originally booked an accessible room at the 52 4th Ave hotel with their call center about 5 weeks in advance. This is for a 6 week stay as my wife would be going to Dana-Farber and Brigham and women's for chemotherapy and radiation treatment. I then followed up with "John" at the front desk twice two weeks prior to confirm the stay. The room was confirmed or so I thought. Upon arrival I waited more than ten minutes to be waited on by the front desk attendant, who was carrying on a conversation the whole time I was standing there and did not acknowledge me to let me know he would be right with me. When he finally wrestled the phone away from his ear and sensed my frustration then after learning my last name told me I was moved to the other hotel as this hotel did not have an accessible room for me. My reason for choosing this hotel was it was a completely smoke free hotel, the last thing we want is cigarette smoke around us as my wife is being treated for a cancerous brain tumor. Their other hotel had smoke free room but it was not smoke free site. So with some anger I left and went to the other hotel. When I first opened the lobby door the overwhelming smell of pot smoke was very prevalent. Well I'm stuck at this point, my wife is paralyzed on one side, it's late in the afternoon I need a place to stay. We get to our room and it is a step up from a dorm room. We unpack, get settled, have dinner delivered. Then at 8pm my wife is in bed, I'm in the kitchen when all of a sudden someone opens my door, which had the deadbolt and slide lock engaged. But their card could access and release the dead bolt but not the slide lock. I slammed the door in his face and yelled what the hell are you doing? He replies oh sorry. I look through the peephole to get a look at him but he was gone. I tried to call the front desk with the rooms phone but it was dead. So I blockaded the door to prevent or delay anyone trying to enter again. The next day I initiated a complaint to Mecca at the front desk, she states that the maintenance man is the only person that can see who tried to enter our room. I drove my wife to the hospitals for her treatments and upon our return was greeted with more pot smoke smell and was anticipating a reply, note, message about the night prior, nothing. While walking my dog at different times through the day, I observed several different cars riding around the hotel then parking far away from the entrance and some characters walking into the hotel, then a few minutes later walking out. Can you say someone is dealing in the hotel? After day 2 and no update on our attempted breaking and entering, no room service, a smelly lobby, extremely unpleasant staff, (whole other story about packages delivered for my wife's treatments but "were missing" ) even after verification of the mgrs signature. We found Residence Inn across the road which is cleaner, safer, friendlier, and much nicer than the drug den of Extended Stay America. So we moved out 2 days into a 6 week stay and a loss of over $4000 to extended stay America. When we checked out Mecca said your leaving early, everything ok. I said no, she replied why. I then informed of the lack of effort in trying to find out who tried to enter our room, her response was "oh they didn't get back to you". Secondly the smell of pot smoke and the fact my wife has a brain tumor and I dont need this, her reply, oh some of our guests smoke in their room. So very long story but the end result, I would sleep on the street before ever staying in this mess. Stay away!!!
Not
The room was Ok but the receptionist was rude and not welcoming. She took aloong time to check me in and was so stressed out. Very poor breakfast. There was a lot of noise from the other rooms. Definitely not coming back again.
Terrible staff & customer service
My father and his cousin stayed here and had asked if it was ok to have 2 nights removed from their stay as we were going for a 2 day trip to nyc. I asked staff multiple times if this was ok or if we needed to do something else to accommodate this change. We were reassured that it was not a problem at all. After returning from NYC, upon check out we were told by another staff member that there were no notes about this as if our initial conversation never took place. We were shocked but the staff member was very nice and helped us by refunding the 2 nights. What we didn’t know is that we were also charged again for the difference. We noticed this with the print out for our stay and were told that the original amount we were charged for the totality of the original stay would be refunded in 7-10 business in ness days. 3 weeks later nothing was credited to my credit card. Called today at 10 am, was told manager would call back in 10 minutes or so. I provided my name so that they could take a look before calling me to get this resolved. At 3pm I went over to this location to facilitate getting this resolved on site. As you can imagine I was frustrated. “Manager” Cristian as of today, was not helpful, did not listen to the discrepancy I was trying to resolve and printed out the same print out I was previously given and told me to “ work on that”. I got frustrated some more trying to get him to listen to what the issue was. He ended our conversation with “go dispute it with your credit card” and walked away to his back office retreat. By the way the staff from three weeks ago all do not work here anymore.....I wonder why. Don’t stay here if you want to save yourself a headache if any errors should be made by anyone working here. As far as the room you get what you pay for. Could be cleaner but then I would be too picky for what my family’s budget was. My gripe is that I have to now take the most important thing to anyone, my time to get this resolved on my own when this error could have been avoided by competent staff and resolved by a “ manager” that actually manages and has an iota of customer service ability. Anyways I hope this helps someone else when making your selection for a place to stay.
This place is disgusting
How did I end up here, my wife booked the room through a third party, hotels.com or something so they are not refundable, she doesn't look at reviews, well my bad. For starters the first thing I noticed was the whole place smelled like pot, good thing I like the smell even though I don't partake, the guy at the desk was dismissive and rude. when i got in the room with the plastic floors i noticed i could see the springs on the mattress through the bedding. the tv is a comedy of movie and lost signal, the bathroom, well the pictures will speak of that.
