pictures are not real!!!
Thiefs!!!! It is a rip-off don’t believe what you see in the picture. pictures are not real!!! I booked a room today at 3:55 pm. I asked to see the room before paying and the receptionist told me that he can’t show me the room but he can show me the pictures. I payed for two nights and right after the payment went through the receptionist told me that my room is on the 4th floor but unfortunately the elevator is out of service. “I have a bad news” he said “the elevator is not working”. Then I went back to pickup our luggage’s from the car and asked my wife to check the room out. She came back asking me to cancel the booking because the room is not even remotely close to pictures that they have posted on their site. At 4:05 pm I asked the receptionist to cancel the booking and he charged me $90 for one night!!!! Not recommended at all!!!!
Conveniently priced and comfortable.
In short: PROS: -Room looks exactly as the pictures previewed -Friendly, welcoming staff -Clean, comfortable -Functioning heat/AC -Sizable -Complimentary coffee/tea/wine in the evening -Great location for sightseeing -Great location for dining CONS -Sparse public transit (but that's the rest of DC as well) -Thin walls In depth: A guest and I stayed in the premium 1 Queen bed room for a two-night stay. It was a last-minute reservation, as we canceled our booking from one hotel to this one due to better reviews, and were at first nervous about what to expect. We had read reviews about the rooms not being renovated or genuine to the pictures online, and would be coming with the expectation that the room would only be for sleeping. We were pleasantly surprised. We had a late arrival, around 1AM (I called ahead and let them know; they said it was fine as long as we arrived before 3AM). Check-in was smooth and quick, the room was on the fourth floor and was exactly like the pictures previewed online. It was a pretty decent size for what we paid, clean and comfortable, small TV and great bed-- wish I took photos of it. The staff was friendly with every interaction we had. We didn't stay in the room for most of our visit, but did not find anything to complain. If anything, the windows couldn't cancel out much street traffic but we expected it being on a busy road. There's not a close train nearby but there is a couple buses, but we ended up walking to most of our destinations which wasn't bad for the north-of-central location the hotel is from all the popular sights (e.g. the White House is a 10-15 minute walk away). I highly recommend this hotel. If I ever visit DC again I will most likely stay here again.
Tiny room, not great
Stayed here for 2 nights in what was meant to be a 'deluxe room with 1 queen bed'. The room was absolutely tiny and the most inconvenient layout ever. The bed was not a queen bed and was barely a double. Staying with a partner, the bed struggled to fit two adults. Did not sleep well. There was barely room to fit our two suitcases, and there was a large tv fixed on the corner that I had to kind of climb under in order to get to the other side of the bed. The room had been renovated recently but it was a very cheap job with fixtures and fittings already loose. The room was claustrophobic and dark. I have given 2 stars because the location of the hotel is good, only a 5 minute walk to cafes, whole foods and places to eat in Du Pont. I would recommend only staying here if there are no other options.
You get what you pay for.
As others have commented, the photos do not accurately depict the room I got. My take is the bedrooms in the photos are the largest and best renovated and probably far and few between. In the room I had (4 persons), there was hardly room for 1 large luggage, a rack with 4 hangers to hang our coats (no closet) and a small table to put our stuff. We had a floor standing air cooler and a heater. Fortunately we were there during the winter month and do not require them. I cannot imagine staying in the room during summer heat. If the expectation is 2 persons and just a place to sleep, the room rate is fair. For any else, I would pay more and stay at another hotel. The hotel (hostel) is actually a renovated apartment complex in a residential area. Parking can be free if you take the time to understand the rules of engagement and be flexible with time and open to parking one or more blocks away.
Boutique hotel in a cute and safe neighborhood. Walking distance to most sights and nearby to a metro station. We enjoyed the small lounge in the entry where you could make complimentary coffee and tea. Agree with prior reviews that some aspects of the hotel are a little tired (chipped paint, etc) but very clean and tidy, very comfortable beds, and excellent value. Would definitely stay again.
