Não esperem nada de luxos, porém apesar de ser um hotel antigo gostei da estadia, com bom serviço de bar à noite para beber uma imperial, o pequeno almoço estava bom e com variedade, gostei das luzes da árvore da entrada e do relógio grande vermelho. A zona onde está inserido o hotel é excelente com o campo de golfe muito próximo
Such a shame for this hotel
Firstly, the staff are very friendly. the setting is very elegant, quiet, and free and fairly secure parking. However, after that it is hard to find positives. the mattress are like sponges so i woke with a very bad back, not really supported by a pillow that would should be binned. The carpets are worn in places and looked filthy, with stains all over the place, in rooms, corridors. The water pressure is an all time low for the Netherlands with a long wait to get wet, and the shower curtain isn’t really necessary as the water will not reach the other side of the bath (no walk in shower then). Taps loose, even the shower gel dispensers are poor. The closet door opened just about with a loud creak. Just to add to the ambience a decorator was on the window ledge outside painting, then left the window open so the room stank of paint. Unfortunate, but seemed almost appropriate. The ample breakfast at €14.50 gave hope for optimism, but that was also dashed. Maybe not cold, but definitely not warm, whilst the fresh fruit was some kiwi and apples in a bowl, the orange juice definitely not freshly squeezed - there were a lot of glasses poured out, many left. I have no idea what happened to them. Yogurt from a pot. No cereal, croissants or anything créatif. TV picture was a bit limited. This was a good price hotel, at the moment, in serious need of renovation. We choose it for the location, but cannot see us returning, which is a shame, as the hotel has fantastic potential. I just hope the owners recognise what is necessary.
Good location, but...
We stayed here for 1 night. Great location in Wassenaar, but goodness me, the carpet needs a seriously good cleanup job... full of stains and truly not up to standard. Beds ok, but not great. Hotel has aged and looks pretty ‘tired’.
Stay here everytime in Wassenaar
A classic, charming, relaxing, safe place in the perfect location in Wassenaar. The staff is outstanding! Great and caring people - Annick, Ronald and the rest of the staff make this hotel feel like home. We've stayed here at least 20 times. We stay at this hotel for at least 8 days twice per year. You can nice rent bikes for EUR10-/day, and easily ride to the Wassenaar town center, beach or surrounding cities of The Hague, Leiden or Katwijk. Yes, the hotel needs to be renovated - so if you need modern rooms with all the amenities, don't stay here. But, if you want to have a perfect getaway in a place that feels like home in one of the best cities in the Netherlands, then the Fletcher Hotel Auberge De Kieviet is a perfect choice.
Could do better
Considering this hotel is in a really affluent area the decor is in need of updating and our room was really basic and didn’t have any facilities for making tea or coffee. The bar and restaurant look nice however the staff disappeared for long periods of time leaving us searching for them to order another drink and then we were asked to leave the bar at 11pm so they could close while we still had drinks.
