Very Good Overnight Stay
I stayed overnight at the Wheelersburg OH Comfort Inn and experienced a good stay. The staff (Reina) was extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, the area was safe. As with practically all hotels these days, the breakfast was basic. I would say the eggs and bacon were edible. I was able to receive all of the cable channels on the television and the internet was pretty quick. I would definitely stay here again with no hesitation.
Clean room.
In town for a funeral. Just stayed one night. Room was clean. There is a train that ran nearby that we heard in the evening, but we did not hear it during our sleeping hours (11 pm - 7 am). Ate breakfast at Bob Evans, so did not try the breakfast served at the motel.
Decent Inn & a Good Night's Rest
Very friendly helpful staff. The room was clean, fresh smelling, and comfortable. The price was reasonable. The price was reasonable. What more could I reasonably ask for, at this price? Maybe a "business center" (meaning a pc in the lobby)? Wait - they HAVE one, and it worked just fine. It would be nice if every Comfort Inn had the small individual safes in each room. Many we stay in DO have them; this location does not. For future consideration. I've stayed here several times over the years, and I SWEAR the place has been radically remodeled. I recall this location having old-fashioned outside entry doors. If that was the case, those doors are long gone. Everything is inside entry now, with controlled access. Very nice. I'll certainly stay at this location again someday.
General Manager is terrible
I was taking getting out of the shower as the house keeping attendant was knocking in the door and enetered the room while I had the do not disturb sign out. 20 minutes prior to check out. I was at the front desk checking out at 10:55, 5 minutes before check out. I asked to speak with the manager to discuss this matter and he immediately got defensive, said "it's only 5 minutes before check out - no big deal". And it was my fault for not answering the door when she knocked... I'm not typically one to answer the door until properly dressed. No apology. No sympathy. Simply defensive of their rush to get guests out and get to his lunch break. I then contacted Choice hotels to discuss with management, and they connect d him into the he call with us. When we clicked over he did not hear or know and both myself and the Choice hotels representative heard the general manager making fun of the situation, laughing, and calling me stupid. The Choice hotels representative very quickly compensated me for the general managers insults. I am a Diamond Choice member and have never seen a manager this horrible at his job, or as condescending to his guests. We will be pulling our Railway contract from this location immediately.
Musty, damp hotel covered up by heavy deodorizer
Hotel room was damp including carpets, air, inside beds even. Smelt very musty. Hallways and rooms were heavily sprayed with air freshener which made it worse. Other guests commented theirs was exactly the same. I travel lots for work and with my family and haven't experienced this before. Checked on other hotels and they were all booked. Was a disappointing stay.
