I'll stay here again!
During several trips to Williamsburg in past years I have stayed at two other “budget” hotels along Bypass Road. This was my first time at this Sleep Inn, and I found it to be considerably better than the other two where I had stayed in the past. The entire staff that we had interaction with were friendly and extremely helpful. Erica, who check us in on the first night was exceptionally helpful. Later that evening she went out of her way to solve a rather insignificant problem I had with the TV. She could have easily said there was nothing she could do and I would have readily accepted that. Our room (2 queen beds) on the first floor was clean, comfortable, and reasonably roomy. We had a desk, wardrobe, refrigerator with a separate freezer compartment, and a TV with a wide selection of cable channels. A pricer room at another facility may have been bigger, but probably not by much. There is an indoor pool and small workout room (with a treadmill, elliptical, and free weights). The free breakfast was a step above what I usually find at a budget hotel. The selections included scrambled eggs, sausages, cereal, waffles, bagels and the usual assortment of small pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, several juices, several selections of tea, and exceptionally good coffee. If you are looking for more for breakfast you can easily walk to a Cracker Barrel next door. The location of this facility is very convenient. It is just a few minutes drive to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center. Additionally there are numerous restaurants close by along Bypass Road with a Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral within a short walking distance. Other restaurants are on Richmond Road, just a few minutes drive away. I could mention a few minor issues that would make this location seem less than perfect, (there was a spot on the carpet. Just like the one at home!) but I could do that in any hotel whether I was paying $70 a night or $200 a night. I would expect to be staying at this Sleep Inn during future visits to Williamsburg.
We have used sleep inn before but the last few times especially here we’re disappointed. The shower was dirty with hair. We had to move to new room after hitting my ankle on a piece of bed frame sticking out and heat/AC didn’t work. The new room was just as nasty. Moved out the next day to comfort suites next door.
Good for the dollars
I am really liking Sleep Inns. They tend to be newer, clean, attractive and provide a good breakfast. This one was no exception. We find that the best price is usually on their website and we snagged this one for a weekday evening in late October for under $60 for two. Plus, when we got to our room we found we were given a more expensive configuration. The only thing not good was that the bedside lamp and towel rack in the bathroom were metal with rusty parts and looked shabby. Everything else was fine. The breakfast was wonderful...plentiful, good sausage links, and lots to choose from plus lots of places to sit. Can't beat it for the price.
Not very clean
Checked in on a Friday night, for one night, $89 plus tax. Average check in experience, neither great nor terrible. Room wasn't clean. Looked like crumbled Cheezit crackers in multiple places on the carpet. Several Cheetos next to the nightstand. Long black hairs on sheets of our bed and towels. Just had kind of a mild gross factor. My husband thanked me for talking him into packing his slippers for the trip--he wouldn't walk on the carpet witouth them. Enough said. Not great.
