Overall I did not have a horrible time. Every hotel is the same when there are groups of kids. I blame parents more than staff because the parents go into vacation mode and don't watch what their kids are doing. However, if you are going to post rules around the building, especially in the pool/spa area then employees should grab a manager to get the parents of the kids to cease the rough house behavior and the running and splashing when other guests are around. After a day of hiking all we wanted to do was soak in the hot tub and relax, but we couldn't due to the amount of kids screwing around in both the pool and the spa. And of course there's only a couple parents that seemed to have drawn the short sticks and had to sit inside while the rest were outdoors having their beverages. After 10 minutes of being splased at and fear of having a football thrown in our face we left. The room was nice and they made sure we had enough towels and other necessities.
A delightful visit

I tried this hotel instead of the Fairmont, which is also nice and nearby, and which I stayed at the last time we were in the area. This hotel does get very good reviews and I can see why. The rooms were renovated three years ago and are exceptionally done. There is a nice size swimming pool and the elevators are very close for entry and exit.the a/c worked efficiently and relatively quiet. This will be my go to stop in the future. Kudos Holiday Express

Very nice Holiday Inn! Rooms were clean and bright with refrigerator and coffee/tea available in room. They also had a happy hour in the evening as well as breakfast included with omelettes, sausages, pancakes, cinnamon rolls as well as yogurt and cheese, etc. Friendly staff for both. Pool was large and kid friendly and a second one. Television had On Demand Options so easy to find something for us to watch.

Your key card won't work for the pool area, so you have to have the front desk person escort you in to the pool area every time, which was weird. You get 1 tiny pool towel. The pool itself was nice, with a kids play area in a shallow pool, a regular pool, and a hot tub. Our girls loved it! It was warm enough to not be overly uncomfortable but it did get crowded. Our room was decent. I really liked the shampoo/conditioner they had in dispensers in the shower! I wish there were more than 2 hooks in the bathroom so we could hang towels/swimsuits/etc. The pullout couch bed or girls slept in was incredibly uncomfortable and I would never put an adult on it. You could feel every piece of metal through the thin mattress. Additionally, we intentionally booked a room with a separate bedroom so we could have space to watch a movie and hang out after the girls went to bed, only to discover the bedroom door within the room was made of glass panels with no covering, which just blows my mind. So there was no privacy or places to change except the bathroom. This is so strange to me to have no privacy in a room that said it could sleep 5. The breakfast ladies (Kay and Linda, I believe) were amazing!! They made for a pleasant start to the day. The hotel was decent, though I'm not sure we'd drive out of our way again to stay.
