Afternoon tea

Avaliou em 27 de setembro de 2022

My partner and I love an afternoon tea and as we had the week off decided to go to the Elms having not been there before. The decor was beautiful and the welcome from the staff was very warm and friendly. The gentleman who looked after us was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. As for the afternoon tea itself, it was yummy and presented beautifully. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Lovely Anniversary Trip

Lovely night away, the staff are all very friendly and the house/grounds are stunning. We checked in and spent the afternoon in the Spa, it's the first time we've been since the revamp & it looks so good! Dinner in the evening was lovely although I would say the prices are a little high, we almost paid as much for dinner and a few drinks as we did for the stay/breakfast package, but couldn't fault the quality. The room was beautiful and as we were at the end of the corridor tucked away we didn't have anyone walking by which was great. The only real negative I have is that the shower/bath quality didn't match the standard set by the rest of the room or hotel. I appreciate that it's an old building but the shower took about 5 minutes to heat to temperature and the pressure was just so weak. We would definitely visit again as the standard was so high!

Beautiful and chilled just a shame we werent able to sleep soundly but it was nice to get away for a night

Staff were amazing. Room was cosy but noisey. Lots of banging and slamming through the night. Didnt sleep well considering it was a relaxing weekend meant to destress us but it was lovely. We requested breakfast in bed which we got. My partner wanted haddock with poached eggs but got scrambled. Easy mistake just a little tweek here and there as they ask what you want and cater to your needs and then it didnt happen. Excellent food however.

Almost a 5 rating… but…

We booked a Greenway Getaway package so got two treatments and dinner. HOTEL: The hotel is stunning. Grounds very beautiful and peaceful. The interior absolutely blew me away - the decor and high quality finish is incredible. I couldn’t stop looking at everything! It had a lovely, boutique feel and was very quiet. ROOM: We had a ‘Comfty’ room - it was very small but the decor and cleanliness made up for the lack of space. Lovely Elemis toiletries. Dressing gowns and slippers. Excellent coffee machine. Dyson fan and opening window. It was a 40th birthday stay and there was a decorated plate with chocolates on arrival. The bed and pillows, however, were really hard and we both woke feeling like we’d not slept well at all. This was such a shame as the room was so relaxing otherwise. This seems to be something that other reviewers have commented on. Being an old building, noise travels so we could hear others talking and moving around in their rooms but I doubt it would be easy to sound proof a listed building. SPA: Absolutely loved it but we were lucky to get a sofa otherwise we would have had to sit at bistro style tables and chairs. There aren’t any actual loungers. Again the decor is fab. The spa staff were so lovely and I had a fabulous full body massage. Wished I booked more treatments in as I really could have stayed all day! It was a real shame the sauna was out of action; the steam room is tiny and would be awkward if someone else came in. The lockers are free and towels/robes are provided. Table bar service was a treat. BADGERS RESTAURANT: Overall our meal was nice - tasty burger and fab brownie for dessert. Our starters were small and basic though. We both agreed that had we paid £12 for our starter, £20 for our main and £12 for our dessert, we’d have been disappointed but as it was all included in our room rate, we didn’t feel too deflated. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty - coffee, juices, pastries followed by yoghurt and fruit and then your choice from the menu. It wasn’t a buffet which made it a nicer experience. STAFF: They were all really helpful, pleasant and friendly - from check in, to the spa, to the restaurant, to the cleaning staff who said a hello and asked how we were enjoying our stay. Couldn’t fault anyone. I would return here and hope to do so in the near future - it has a lovely, luxury feel to it and we were made to feel very welcome. I would most definitely book more treatments at the spa and upgrade my room to a bigger one. My only hope would be that the owners do something to upgrade the beds (even a mattress topper would vastly improve things) and invest in some new pillows. Regretfully, I can’t give a 5 rating but it comes oh so close. Just a few tweaks and it will be there!

Nothing average about The Elms

We had a wonderful 2 night stay with friends. The style of the hotel is amazing and creates a lovely atmosphere and a real visual experience - full credit to the interior designer. Not a clinical glass and chrome tower, more a real country house immersive experience that relaxes you and makes you want to explore to see everything they have to offer. All the staff were very good indeed, friendly and helpful, and highly professional. The decor and style does mean that lighting is subdued but it really adds to the ambience of the place. We had a lovely bedroom with views over the lawns. The wellness and spa facilities were amazing with a tropical/jungle/rainforest theme, each area of the spa full of hidden surprises. The restaurant meals and drinks were good and whilst prices are higher than average, this is not an average hotel, so everything balances out. Would certainly stay again when circumstances permit. Nice to see a hotel that aims to get things right.
