Two great nights, very comfortable, cracking building plenty of history. Hotel and bar staff super friendly, hardworking and very well trained. Full English and espresso for breakfast, Management went above and beyond under the current circumstances to accommodate us as good as they did. Competitive room rate. Will be back. Thanks again

Dont' bother going there!
We booked for one night's bed and breakfast. First impression was a dirty floor mat in the foyer which stuck to our feet.UGH! We had to find the barmaid to book us in. She apologised and explained she was . was the only member of staff on duty. The room was a little tired and a bit scruffy but the beds were clean and comfortable. Even though the slatted headboard on one one the twin beds was missing 3 slatts. As we had long journey to see a sick relative it wasn't worth complaining. However, on opening the bedside drawer, we discovered to our horror a man's used and dirty handkerchief which we disposed of in the bin! Making a cup of tea we discovered the cups were dirty so we cleaned and washed them. The country is experiencing the effects of Covid 19 and the lack of cleanliness and basic hygiene was astonishing. We could not get the shower to work as the taps were encrusted with scale. Went down for breakfast to be asked (by the cleaner!) "Did you order breakfast? because the kitchen is closed and you should have ordered breakfast when you booked in! At 8am I went to find the Manager and discussed our concerns to which he was defensive and did not think our concerns were anything to worry about. He offered to order breakfast from somewhere but by this time we really did not want to eat there. He offered to refund the cost of breakfast but by this time 9am.we just wanted to leave. There was a board outside the hotel/pub offering All Day Breakfasts Served Here!!!!
Horrendous
I would not go in their again even if you paid me. I dont think it has been cleaned since it first opened. The place had an overwhelming smell of sick and urine. Glasses filthy. Never again will I be visiting.
Basic rooms and a little disappointing
The rooms were OK but nowhere near as nice as in the photos online. The bathroom and furnishings were very dated and not in great condition. The towels, toiletries and toilet paper were of the lowest quality. Also, the hotel is attached to a pub and people from the pub crowded round the door of the hotel smoking so every time we went in we felt a bit intimidated. On a more positive note, the beds were comfy and the room was quieter than we had expected, as we were on the second floor.
