Excellent mini break at Wortwell Hall Barn

Avaliou em 11 de novembro de 2022

We stayed at Wortwell Hall Barn in October for 3 nights with our 2.5 year old Bull Terrier Nougat. Clive and Jenny were really friendly and welcoming, and made us feel at home from the start. The room was lovely, the bed was so so comfortable and as we had our dog with us, we were given the room with a door to their garden, which although did cost extra, was very handy when you have a dog. The barn is set at the end of a long track and so is very private. Jenny and Clive's garden is beautiful and they also have an enclosed paddock at the end, where we could let our dog off for a run, which was very handy. The breakfast that Clive cooked for us on both days was just perfect, 10 out of 10 for that. The surrounding area is beautiful, we visited the beach twice, there are ample dog friendly beaches around. We ate out at the Fleece Inn in the nearby village of Bungay, which again we would highly recommend, gorgeous food, attentive staff, and again, dog friendly. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our mini break at Wortwell Hall Barn. Clive and Jenny are excellent hosts, the bedroom and facilities are great, and the breakfast is amazing. We will would definitely like to return at some point in the future.

Recently returned from a short break. Beautiful place and really quiet and peaceful. The room we had was really spacious and so was the en-suite. Clive and Jenny, the hosts were most welcoming. Would recommend staying here. It's in a lovely location for exploring Norfolk.

This beautiful Barn is set at the very end of a very quiet country private road, very peaceful. Clive and Jenny are very warm and welcoming and helpful hosts who's attention to detail is clear to see. Great breakfast all locally sourced and freshly baked crossaints. Very clean and comfortable room beautifully decorated. Highly recommended a visit.

What a beautiful place,so peaceful. Easy to find, hosts were very welcoming and helpful about the local areas. Bed was super Comfortable and the shower/bath had great water pressure 👌. We were given the BEST breakfast we've eaten in a very long time. Would thoroughly recommend staying here, but it gets booked up super quick. We would definitely come back ❤️

UNSAFE! Avoid this place, especially with children or if you don’t like dogs

We stayed here for couple of nights to attend a wedding. They have a dog (Alsatian) freely mixing with guests. They have told us that this dog is quite old & grumpy. The next day as our daughter was going to make a drink in the hall, the dog jumped out from the study room and bit her on the leg. Luckily my daughter was wearing thick joggers that protected her from the dog bite, (as you can see on the photo the teethmarks are there & bruises around it) and is very good with dogs so didn't react or freak out. What is more frustrating is that after the incident the owner still let the dog mix with us as if nothing happened! The dog has bitten a guest, surely the first thing to do is put the dog away for the rest of our trip?! When we challenged them about this, their only response was “Roxy has never done that before”. They didn't seem to understand that now she has bitten someone, she can no longer be trusted to share the house with guests. Roxy is clearly not comfortable with having strangers around her house anymore. Clive even had to shout at her in the morning for raising her lips at our daughter and barking/growling. I’m still really upset about it as I couldn’t understand their reasoning at all for continuing to let the dog mix with us, rather than shutting her away. The nice weekend that we thought we are going to have turned into nightmare & my poor daughter suffers an injury that hopefully has not made her scared of dogs for life. We will never go here again. I still think the owner’s didn’t take it seriously but hopefully they will as this is safety concern. If you have children, do not like dogs, or are taking your own dogs DO NOT STAY HERE. Or at the very least, insist the dog is kept locked away at all times or is muzzled. The owners told us they would keep the dog separate from guests in future but i'm not sure we believe them. They should be thankful that we are dog lovers ourselves so are not reporting to local official’s to demand the dog is put down for biting a child. Also the ceiling above our room was very squeaky and you can hear when people in the floor above are walking around which kept waking us up.
