A great new choice to stay on Xiamen Island

A fun, modern hotel in a really good location. No room service after 2300 hrs but there’s a nice pub and lots of local shops outside the hotel Rooms are clean and spacious. There’s even a nice make up table with a large mirror which I actually use as a work desk since the table/chair actually has pretty bad ergonomics if you’re using your computer

This review was from a quick overnight stay so didn’t get a chance to use too many of the facilities (furthermore some like the bar were closed in the lead up to CNY)…. …but what stands out most for this hotel for me is the design overall, and then secondly the location. - Relative to so many Western brand hotels that across China that leave you a little confused - feeling like you could be anywhere (Westin), opulently luxurious (Waldorf/Regis/Ritz etc), Marriott/Hilton/Sheraton/Crowne Plaza generic, or just W obnoxious….this 2020 opening hotel actually feels cohesively stylish. And it’s not just a fancy lobby and then the same old in the room - this is a consistent theme throughout to the rooms, the restaurant, etc. As you’ll read elsewhere, the property was designed by an Indonesian firm in a southern China “Nanyang” style indicative of the traders across SE Asia. Overall, it’s a manifestation of Xiamen’s (at least in my mind) more design-driven sense given this culture vs. the generic drab of most Chinese second-tier cities. - I’m also a fan of the location. The property is part of the the China Resources MixC 万象城 luxury mall in central Siming in Xiamen, which means you have both a good selection of restaurants and all the top luxury brands you may just happen to need. But also at the same time you’re not far from more interesting areas of the city - it’s an easy walk nearby to decent local restaurants, some creative newer bars. And it’s a longer 4 km + to Zhongshan walking street old area and for a tourist the Gulang Island ferry, or not that much different down to Xiamen university. Minor quibbles include: - The room was quite large (I’d guess 40+ sqm) so space usage wasn’t a huge concern, but it is a bit of an odd layout. The closest is massive (what % of hotel guests use that sort of closet?), with a separate water closet from the main bathroom. The room area was nice with a seating area seemed a bit sparse. - Bath towels were remarkably small and not the sort of super large soft fluffy towels I’d expect at this price point. - The disadvantage of being part of the mall was remarkably evident in the CNY shopping rush - I think parking took 20+ minutes alone,and we gave up finding the electric car charges until the mall closed and things cleared out. Overall, having stayed in some of the more generic properties in Xiamen and in more touristy-locations….I’d recommend this place and stay again if I happen to be back. A stylish property that reflects well what makes Xiamen special.

One of the best hotels in Xiamen. Excellent experience. Convenient location. Friendly yet professional staff. Tasty food. Splendid interior design. Every corner is a piece of art. The hotel itself is a masterpiece. Will visit again.

Wonderful stay at the Andaz!

This was one my my favorite ever hotel stays. The property is beautiful, modern, the rooms are large and spotless and the staff were all wonderful (especially Audrey and Neil). We really enjoyed the complimentary happy hour every day and the gorgeous wine bar later in the evening. The hotel is very well designed and having the mall right next door was useful. My only complaint would be that the outdoor pool needs to be cleaned slightly but overall I would recommend the Andaz without hesitation.

The fastest check in I ever had in China. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were stylish, clean and quiet. Breakfast was good, Western selection could slightly improve when there's buffet. The pool is amazing and the hotel is conveniently located in the city
