Still waiting refund - Hilton are misleading with promise of 30 days -
Due to stay 13 May for races : hotel closes for Covid and Hilton promise refund in 30 days . Now saying it’s going to be over 90 days . I can’t believe no one has access to Booking system ( as Hilton claim ) to process refunds. Very convenient to them . They are still happy to take deposits upfront . Hollow corporate promises not delivered . Maybe they are going bust - avoid at the moment If you want your money to be safe
Slightly tired especially in corridors
Booked for weekend in December. Hotel busy with Xmas nights, but to credit didn’t cause disturbance. Advertised with parking but this was very limited and expensive on site. Convenient location on inner ring road with easy and interesting walk into town. Nice views from room of minster. Room was ok if bland , but the corridors to get there were convoluted and tired in decor. Not cheap.
We had a warm welcome from Tom at check in, lovely service from the breakfast team and Elena. Special thanks to Cristina from the Front desk who helped us book a taxi. As a Gold member we were also upgraded so thank you for that.The hotel is in a good location and is very welcoming.
Great location, room felt shabby
Hotel is in great location however rooms are shabby. Room felt unclean and not usual doubletree quality. Reception and restaurant updated and looked nice however this doesn’t extend to the most important part... the rooms! Would not return. First room (double comfort) overlooked main road, woke early in the morning to a jcb digging and loud roadworks, not what you want on a supposed relaxing break. Told the lovely receptionist who quickly organised a new road at the back of hotel, can’t fault the service. However the second room felt same as the first, bit grubby and massively outdated and in need of a refurbishment. The hotel doesn’t have a car park therefore you pay £13 per day at the local council car park which is few minutes walk away.
Great place to stay
great location to the city centre, and really good hotel, very comfortable, staff very freindly and helpful, good food,quiet at night so we slept very well, not always the case in large hotels, we will be back.
