O hotel é simples, porém fica próximo à estação de trem. Não possui elevador. Os quartos são grandes e limpos. O café-da-manhã não tem muita variedade, porém é muito saboroso e com um excelente atendimento.

Encantador hotel numa encantadora cidade

Gostei realmente deste hotel. Ao chegar nele já fiquei encantada com a fachada e o jardinzinho, era tudo que eu esperava de um hotel numa cidadezinha inglesa. Nosso vôo atrasou e chegamos às 21:30h, sendo que o check in era somente até as 21h. Como fizemos a reserva pelo booking, o Hotel ligou lá e a atendente do booking nos ligou para saber porque ainda não havíamos chegado, e avisou no hotel, que nos esperou. Essa foi a primeira gentileza, a segunda foi da recepcionista, que conversou muito conosco, nos deu um mapa e deu todas as dicas de como conhecer a cidade, que nós seguimos e foram muitíssimo úteis. O hotel fica a 1 km de estação de trem de York, fomos a pé até lá. Os quartos eram bem antigos, com uma decoração romântica, mas um pouco fora de moda. No quarto tinha chaleira elétrica e vários saquinhos de chás, café, leite e até cookies, tudo de graça. O café da manhã foi fantástico, com o típico English breakfast, com linguiça, ovos, bacon, cogumelos, tomate e torrada, além de algumas opções no buffet. A região do hotel é muito bonita. Tem um mercadinho na esquina. Apenas o wifi decepcionou um pouco em um dos dias.

Hotel pequeno, localizado em um bairro residencial, perto do centro.Quarto bem aquecido.( fui no inverno).Dono mora no local,super educado, simpático e prestativo.Melhor café da manhã da Inglaterra. Banheiro padrão europeu.Pequeno. custo benefício muito bom.

Stayed at this hotel for the weekend. Kius welcomed us to the hotel on arriaval...very freindly and helpful showed us around the hotel and to our room .clean and tiidy like a home from home. Had a comfortable sleep . Good variety of breakfasts on offer from... Full english to cereals and juices tea coffee amd fruits ...the staff were very freindly and chatty with us and more than accomodating for our tequests and when we requested more toast even though they nearly finished clearing away.very nice breakfast and competent staff . NIce garden patio area at tne rear of the hotel and ample parkimg space for those with cars and overall a lovely relaxinvgstay ...would recomend and will stay there again.Thankyou to all of the staff at hgate bridge . Only 12 minutes walkinh distance from tne citu centre and train station or a 3 minute taxi journey.excellent weekend

!!AVOID!! If i could give 0 stars i would!

Avoid at all costs! Absolutely terrible b&b and customer service was non existent. Its a long read but PLEASE do, I don't want this to happen to anyone else. My partner and I were doing some travelling around the UK so have stayed all over the country and abroad & this is by far the worst place i have ever encountered. I am shocked to see any good reviews to be completely honest. We arrived to a filthy room.. FILTHY. We physically did not want to touch anything, sit on anything due to how dirty it was. The carpet was covered, thick full of hair, everything in the room was rotten, stains and marks all over the cupboards and doors, dust everywhere, just every little thing in the room was disgusting, i have never seen anything like it. (I will leave photos and videos below, of multiple rooms). We decided to head into town to see York and giving them a chance to rectify the situation, asked the cleaner very nicely if she would mind giving it a once over whilst we were out, wishful thinking, but hopeful that we would return to a cleaner room and be resolved. Disappointingly, we returned to our room exactly as it was left, untouched, still filthy. I was almost in tears to my partner feeling very uncomfortable and sick to be in the room knowing i could not spend the night there, in an area we did not know, to which he went downstairs to complain. The man in reception did come to check and agreed to move us to an alternative room. Another SIX rooms later we were shown to, all in the same condition, filthy. We had another member of staff, this is now 2 staff agreeing with us on how unsuitable the conditions of the rooms were. I don't know how they pass any health and safety/cleanliness inspections. At this point it was getting late, both my partner and I were frustrated and upset and now having to find an alternative hotel at such short notice. We explained to staff that we were not happy and wanted a refund as we would not be staying the night, let alone the other 2nights we had booked for. (3 in total). He explained that he will have to pass this onto his manager to be accepted and that in the meantime we could contact Booking.com to get the refund process rolling for us. Luckily we found a PremierInn on the outskirts of town a short drive away which was a god send to us, at least we knew we were getting a clean, restful nights sleep! As soon as i arrived to the PremierInn I contacted Booking.com instantly to start the refund process which seemed positive... or so i thought. This is where Management comes in, or should i say NO Management. Basically, Booking.com need to send a cancellation/refund request to the hotel for them to approve in order for the refund to be given. This they claim should only take 5 days, I waited 6-8weeks! I called the hotel every other day for about 3 weeks straight, each time getting a different member of staff who claim they were dealing with our incident and speaking to the managers, which I knew wasn't happening so asked for a direct number for the manager/owner myself. They told me this was not possible. Strange for a business in my opinion. Following this i was told the reason nobody had been in contact was because the managers were actually on holiday and would not be back until the next week and they would contact me. I never received any contact. Each time i called i was given a different excuse, a different day or time that the managers would be 'popping by' and each time I called they were magically not there. Lie after lie! After this, as you can imagine, i lost all patience and had a very stern conversation over the phone to the next member of staff who answered. Still NOTHING CHANGED. I took this back to Booking.com, who throughout this whole time i had called over 5/6 times as they also could not get in touch with the managers there. At this point i had gone further to the highest person in that department at Booking.com and basically had it out with them instead, only then did he personally take this on after apologizing to me that he had realized how long this was going on for and was delayed by Booking.com themselves which never should have happened. Suddenly out of nowhere, this vile B&B had emailed Booking.com to agree with our refund but only to 2 nights, claiming that the first night we were there we were just being difficult although they agreed our room was not suitable and due to this the first night is non-refundable and therefore Booking.com could not give me a full refund no matter how right i was and how much i pushed. I'm absolutely disgusted that this place is even allowed to still be running and that people are paying for this disgrace. Unfortunately i can not leave a review on Booking.com, If anyone could share this i would be very grateful, tell your friends & family. I refuse to call Holgate Bridge a hotel or b&b as they do not deserve anyones business, they caused a very stressful time for myself and my boyfriend on the rest of our travels that we should have been enjoying. PLEASE please please DO NOT BOOK!!!!!
