Stayed at Stableside for one night to attend the Christmas markets with my partner and our friends. Lovely room and comfortable beds and free parking! 30 min walk into the city centre or a short bus ride. There are bus stops right outside! We arrived early in the morning and where allowed to keep our luggage in the luggage room. The only thing that stops it being 5 stars is the lack of staff around, you have to go on a hunt for anyone if you need anything. Sign on the desk with a number to call if no one is there but the phone was also left on reception.

Well we stayed there for only a night, family day out. The room was great, facilities were great. If I could pick at anything the breakfast bar was empty when I got downstairs at 9am but it was soon filled and I had a brew whilst I was waiting but honestly nothing major at all. I got to check in early and checked out on time no fuss. I would stay there again without a shadow of a doubt. Uber into York Centre was less than 7 quid.

Excellent Hotel and warm and welcoming staff

We booked for one night (two single basic rooms) On arrival we were advised that we had been upgraded to two double on suite rooms! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Lovely modern shower cubicle and toilet. Following morning we were welcomed into the restaurant by the kitchen manager Sarah, who cooked us the most delicious breakfast. Will definitely be staying there again. Many thanks to all the staff

Dreadful room and nights sleep

Stayed in the annexe, to my regret, and it was awful. The sink plug was faulty and I had to wrap a flannel round it to stop the water disappearing and had to keep the tap running. The window didn't open properly. There was no remote for the television and after complaining I was presented with one that didn't work. The pipes feeding the radiator made alarming banging noises during the night which woke me up a few times. Also no toilet in the room so walking up the corridor in the middle of the night was hardly ideal!!! Decent breakfast though.

Mixed sex bathrooms made me uncomfortable and,potentially, unsafe.

The rooms and breakfast were good. However, they only have mixed sex bathrooms. Cubicles have large gaps above and below and sinks are separate, except in one toilet. My understanding is the law requires single sex facilities if shared, even if a third space is available for those that want it. Sharing a toilet and sinks and showers with men makes many women uncomfortable and even fearful. Others would not be allowed to share by their religion. I expect there are other facilities nearby so each bathroom needs to be returned to single sex. I felt uncomfortable and rather scared when naked in the shower (separate cubicle but flimsy door and lock) and in the toilet. Men probably hate this too and several had shown their disdain by peeing everywhere. I would seek reassurance the facilities are single sex before returning.
