My wife and I stopped here during our drive back to Canada from Puerto Vallarta ... we picked it primarily because it was dog friendly. We were disappointed with the accommodation as it didn’t have hot water and when I went to the front desk after dinner we found the clerk asleep on the lobby couch! We were both tired and opted to just go to bed and have a shower in the morning ... still no hot water the next morning! I would describe the overall state of the room as tired and in need of upgrade shower head was covered in calcium and leaking at the fitting to the pipe, virtually no water coming out of the sink faucet and the ceiling plaster was falling off ... we stayed in room #8 should management wish to confirm my claims.

We went to Zacatecas using Volaris air tickets and hotel as we normally do. We never had a bad experience, but there is always one. This hotel casa del gobernador was the first bad experience, we checked in the in our way to our room it looks very old, the bed had a air and it was not from the customers head. For sure , we reported and they mentioned we will cleanup for you, we looked deep and it was the room very badly dirty , so we decided to canceled, they agree but we been charge for one night due to cancellation policies, so please don’t stay there ever.

Traveled to Zacatecas for work recently, visiting a supplier. Was booked into this hotel by my Mexican supplier. I thought it was a great place to stay. Checking in might have been a struggle if it was just me, I speak no Spanish - but my supplier did the talking. Did have a fun moment during an afternoon, I had left a tip for the housemaid, and the front desk clerk wanted to check that it was for service, and not just misplaced/left there. He would go into to his coomputer, come outside and speak, then go back in to computer, and come back out and speak again. Well done sir! great work, and thought took great courage and exemplary service. I was in room #12, had a single bed. Room came with a TV that had a ton of channels, mostly Spanish language. Was clean, with a comfortable bed, had a window you could open to a hotel courtyard, not very scenic, but worked for what I desired. Room had a nice bathroom, which included a shower which was the only negative to the stay. Day 1 had very little pressure, and day 2 I could not get any form of pressure, nor any hot water to the shower head. I was checking in very late - we were told the place is closed up at midnight, so we had to arrive by then. Apparently that is the curfew for the guests, everyone back in by midnight. Great little south facing balcony, with ample seating for relaxing or reading. There was a breakfast included in the room rate, which I wasn't able to partake in either morning. I walked around the neighborhood, easy to get downtown, and lots to see in the very near vicinity. Museums, and churches were a highlight for me.

We stay at the Hotel Casa del Gobernador 3 nights at the end of the 2016 in room # 5. Located in a nice area, not far from the downtown. The hotel is satisfactory but could be better; The furniture are uncomfortable an needs a furniture in the bathroom to store the belongings. There is no blackout in the curtains so light comes in very early in the morning. Clean room, beds with good matress, quiet, and hospitable staff. Its easy to take a taxi if you walk down street. They offer coffee, fresh orange juice in the morning. Im not sure to be back to the hotel.

Too rustic and in need of a major overhaul

I booked the hotel on-line as it was listed as a "Smart Deal". Our first room #14 was terrible. The bathroom was was dirty, black mold on the bathroom ceiling. I killed two very large insects in the room, there was no towel rack to hand towels, no toilet paper hanger (the paper sat on top of the towels behind the toilet tank). The white towels were actually greying and looked dirty. The lamps on the night tables were for show only as there was no plug ins for them. The only plug is was for the TV so charging a cell phone or computer was difficult. After the first night, we requested a move and the owner/manager moved us to room #6 which was better, however, the towels were again graying with age and looked dirty.
