Horrible experience as first hotel of Newmarket Holidays choice in their 2 centre Sicily trip! Only things good were, nothing. Mattresses harder than a camp bed, no aircon which I can assure you was required in bedrooms, you could not open french windows because then the mozzies entered and the two roads either side of the hotel kept you awake, their were no facilities available anywhere near the hotel unless you had a car, the food was vile, cold pasta as first course shovelled onto your plate followed by overcooked fish then 1 small cake as your pudding! Very expensive drinks and water served by surly staff, you really felt something was wrong with the person at Newmarket who 'selected' this G** awful dump and if they had any honour ,they would reimburse the monies we wasted at that place? Probably £2,50 per person per night!!!!!
Holiday with my wife
We stayed here whilst on a tour with Newmarket Holidays. The hotel is ok with nice views, pool & gardens. The problem starts with the restaurant. The food was disgusting, small portions, tasteless. The staff could not or would not speak english. This could be a problem with Newmarket not setting a good standard with the hotel? We were all glad to leave after 3 days.
Not quite as bad as we feared
Having read previous reviews we arrived here with some trepidation as part of a Newmarket Holiday. The rooms were large but quite basic and with quite a lot of noise from other rooms. The mattresses were also very hard, like sleeping on a door. We had a huge balcony but no chairs to put out on it. The only balconies with chairs seemed to be in those rooms overlooking the pool. Disappointed that despite being in transit since 3.30am the restaurant only opened at 8.00pm. Basic set menu of two types of pasta on the same plate, anorexic chicken leg and veggies, plus basic dessert. The salad was the same every night - lettuce, sliced carrot and sweetcorn. We had to go looking for oil and vinegar to liven it up. The desserts and the pasta were the best bits of the meals. We had a gluten free guest who fared quite well but the vegetarian food was very disappointing considering how many fresh vegetables were in season. Guests cannot walk anywhere after dinner, or instead of dinner, as the hotel is well positioned for driving around the island but not for a passagiata. The pool area was lovely and really nice to sit around. Another highlight were the waiting staff. Despite not having a common language we communicated well and they always tried to help out when they could.
awful hotel and awful food
just returned from this hotel used by Newmarket holidays. having travelled with them before and stayed in fantastic hotel this was a come down for the price paid I was expecting more. My comments are exactly the same as the previous ones and it does make you think twice about booking with Newmarket again.
Myself and my wife stayed at this hotel via Newmarket holidays and I can honestly say it is one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. Newmarket promoted this hotel on their tour as 4* but I can assure you that it is most certainly NOT. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so if you like a nice evening stroll after dinner then forget it as the only place to walk is on the main road with no footpath and busy traffic. Which brings me to dinner. There is nothing quite like it I am beginning to wonder if they employ a chef at all. Each meal begins with 2 types of pasta served on the same plate followed by a meat or fish course with one vegetable and a side salad of raw carrot, lettuce and a sprinkling of sweetcorn. The identical salad is served every night. The first night we were served a chicken drumstick with courgette, the second night a piece of unknown fish in soggy bread crumbs and the final night a piece of very dry swordfish. The hotel itself apart from having a nice pool is extremely dingy the rooms are sparse and depressing it is obvious that no money has been spent on this hotel for years. The reception staff are quite rude. The restaurant staff are friendly but unfortunately do not speak any English so it was difficult to communicate when trying to order wine or query what the food actually was. If you are considering this hotel I would certainly give it a miss and if it is in your itinerary with Newmarket then I would certainly query what they are doing about it.
