Disappointing ... not at all to the Marriott standard
Visited this hotel beginning of December. Got a so called free upgrade to a room just below their 'lounge / bar' ... However the noise and bass sound coming from the bar will not allow you to close your eyes. I reported it to the reception, but no action was taken. After 2nd reporting, I insisted to get another room which was more quiet. Note as well complimentary shuttle to the airport is not free of charge! The drive to the hotel is free of charge, but to get back you will need to pay for....- as such 'complimentary shuttle' is not the right statement. Be aware, hotel is not the normal Marriott standard!
A very nice modern hotel
It's in a short connection to the airport, the rooms are spacy and extremely modern, you don't hear the street sounds.Special thanks to the front desk lady Alina for helping us arrange b-day cake for a colleague within minutes, and it was beautiful!!
Very Disappointed with this New Marriott Brand
We were traveling with a small trailer, so I called about parking without having to decouple the trailer. The young man who answered the phone was very helpful and told me we wouldn't have any problem. When we arrived in the rain the front desk supervisor even came out and offered assistance as I was backing up the trailer to park. So far, a good first impression. When I booked the room the choices were a "double" bed or two "twins" in a room. Since a double bed is usually smaller than a queen (we normally book king), I opted for two twins. When we checked in, I asked about the bed sizes and was told the double rooms had queen-sized beds, but we decided to keep our originally booked room since we already had the keys. The room, too, made a great first impression. However, during the booking process I checked the box for extra towels, but there was only one hand towel and one bath towel per person. Why offer the service if you don't plan on fulfilling it? The room is alright if you like narrow beds, and I mean narrow. I slept on a wider bed when I was five years old. The rooms do not have a coffee maker or even a hot water kettle. We knew this before booking, but it still left us disappointed. The room was very modern, and one of the touches was a tablet that serves as the hotel directory. My wife read a "message" on the tablet that stated happy hour in the hotel bar ran from 16:00 until 18:00 with all cocktails costing 5.00 €. Later I was using the tablet when a new "message" arrived in which it stated that happy hour ran from 17:00 until 19:00. So, we went upstairs around 17:30 thinking we had one and a half hours of drinks at 5.00 € each. We had two cocktails and a club sandwich each, and I expected a bar bill of 45.00 €. However, we received a bill for 66.50 €. When I questioned the bartender he said happy hour was from 16:00 until 18:00, and the drinks were half price, not 5.00 € each. When I complained about this bait and switch operation at checkout, and backed it up with pictures of the messages I'd taken with my phone, we did not have to pay the parking fee, a nice gesture, but I still left unsatisfied. We really wanted to like this hotel. The room's carpet and the designer lamp and chairs add to a modern, elegant look, but it's more than looks that would make us want to return. A hotel is about convenience, but this one consists of two buildings with an enclosed, above ground "gangway" connecting them. Getting anywhere requires at least two elevator trips and a walk across the gangway. The shower water basically trickles out of the nozzle. I turned it upside down, and even on full blast the water shoots only about 15 centimeters toward the ceiling. It's very difficult to rinse out shampoo, and then it's difficult to dry yourself with the paper-thin bath towels. Breakfast was unusual, no buffet, but prepared trays with partly prefabricated convenience food and partly pre-prepared fresh food. One could choose between continental, French, fitness and add-on items. It worked for us because there was only one other couple in the breakfast area and we had the waitress, Nicole Soehn, to ourselves. She was super efficient and extremely friendly, but I doubt that this kind of idea works well when there are a lot more people to be served who all need to be at the airport at a certain time. The quality of breakfast was ok except for the cheeses and the out-of-the-box waffles. If this is Marriott's answer to a sustainable hotel future, all I can say is that we'll be staying somewhere else. We'll never stay at another "Tribute Portfolio" hotel.
Moderne Chic hotel
With a panam touch thaïs venue tries to bring you Back in time Welcoming and knowledgeable staff Thé hôtel is salut in two buildings one host a rather cool bar on the nineth flood. Nice view of Hamburg and the airport tracks. My room had a nice moderm look. Very well organized. I have removed à point due to the sound proofing that could be improved. While smaller planes are just a small humming the bigger ones can be heard. If you are noise sensitive like me I would recommence to stay on the other side of thé building. Dîner and breakfast week simple but overall good and reasonably priced.
