Stayed here with my mum whilst we were travelling through Japan. We didn’t know what to expect but wanted something a little cheaper so we chose this place. Very happy with the room, nice and neat and beds were comfy (pillows to soft for me but that’s a personal preference). Super close by to Chinatown and only at 15 min walk to the Cup Noodle Museum (that’s important!). Reception were friendly and helpful and we also used the parking for our car and super cheap for 1500¥ a night (we paid an extra 400¥ as we stayed 2 hours after check out to walk around but SO worth it!). Would stay again.
Couple on cruise around Japan on Diamond Princess
We caught a shuttle bus from Narita Airport to Yokahama Bay Hotel then planned to catch metro to JAL City but due to a Typhoon was not running so option 2 catch a taxi (1000 yen) under the circumstances a good option. Arrived after 10pm, friendly helpful staff greeted us. Simple no fuss book in, with had pre booked & paid to include breakfast. Very nice clean with a nice bed, small room but expected that. Highly recommended. No complaints, friendly helpful staff. Good price. Close to cruise ship terminal (5min. Walk).
Hotel JAL Kannai is conveniently located within two minutes to walk from Nihon Odori station. Chinatown is nearby with many eateries. One small Aeon store is right around the corner. Another discount grocery store is on the opposite side. JR Kannai station is about 10 minutes. Room was fairly large from Japanese standards. No complimentary bottles of water. Room was clean. AC was strong. The biggest complaint about the room is the lack of electric outlets near beds,
Very uncomfortable mattress, otherwise good
Mostly this is a good hotel. It's clean and though the rooms are small (common in this part of the world) they have everything you'd need . . . except comfortable mattresses. We stayed one night here in advance of a cruise ship departure the next day. The hotel is located in a good place, with access to a lot of things to do and not very far from Osanbashi Pier, where many cruise ships depart. But oh, that mattress; it was really bad. I haven't had such an awful night's sleep in quite a while. It felt like the cheapest of the cheap mattresses in a bargain store. It sagged badly and provided no support. This was baffling to me. Right next to the bed stood a pants press, a device rarely provided in any but the most elite hotels, and even more rarely actually used. What were they thinking? "If we are stingy on the mattress, we can afford to provide a pants press"? It made no sense to me at all. If you sleep just fine on poor quality bedding, then maybe this won't matter to you and you'll like it here. If I'm in Yokohama again, I'll stay elsewhere.
