We live in Crete most of the year on the western side and wanted to explore more of the east and visit Spinalonga. We chose this hotel as it was right on the beach and had all the amenities we were looking for. We loved it - it was clean and well managed. We enjoyed our breakfast buffet and several meals at the beach-side taverna. The beach service was excellent - very charming and efficient young staff.
Τhe water is so dirty people leave their thrush in the beach 🏖 it's awful the hotels through their trush in the sea. Also when it's windy the sea pulls out leaves and trush it's disgusting and disappointing there are much more great beaches in Crete near by
The beach front restaurant is excellent
We didn`t stay at the hotel but realised that if you ordered drinks on the beach and used the restaurant, then the sun beds are free. Bargain as this beach is one of the best. No rocks just clear turquoise water with little fish swimming around your feet. Water sports activities were available further along the beach if required. A young man brought drinks to our sun bed and which was under a shady parasol. We had lunch in the restaurant which was very nice. We just had to cross the road to use to toilets. Thanks so much for several visits.
Not what I expected, quite disappointed
I found the photos on the property website deceiving. The place appears much larger, nicer and more family-friendly in what might be professionally digitally-enhanced photographs. For example, there was no playground on the premises (or by the beach as in the photos). The rooms are very basic, the beach is very narrow and the drinks in the bar were horrendously overpriced - one would expect to pay e3.80 for a coffee and e8 for a cocktail in a luxury establishment in a city not in a small provincial beach bar. Also, staff appeared to be indifferent or rude at times. After her swim, my mother was asked no to step on the seaside restaurant patio because she had sandy feet (even though the patio was surrounded by sand?!). We found that this was not a particularly inviting way to treat customers so we chose to have our dinner elsewhere. The restaurant is next to the road so it is not child-friendly at all. The breakfast buffet was quite average too, with uht milk and very limited or no fresh fruit. We found that surprising as local grapes and melons were overabundant and inexpensive. The hotel overall was ok but I was quite disappointed as I thought that I had booked a nice family-friendly hotel for this occasion.
