We could not be happier after our week in Akrotiri hotel.
We got much more than expected. Quiet, cleanest hotel run by the family. Location superb, you can listen to the sea having drink few meters up the sea shore. You want to swim or sun bath? Cosy, stone beach with sun beds and umbrellas right there. Mr Mathios, the owner, always helpful and friendly. The staff of the hotel wonderful. Enjoy!
Very relaxed and comfortable

We had a week at the Akrotiri Hotel which was great.
It's a lot quieter that the other touristy spots yet has some great dining, beach or ruin options to explore. The 1700bc ruins are less than 50m up the road.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and each has a semi private front verandah overlooking the ocean. Heads up, there are a few stairs between each pair of apartments as the path winds up the hill.
Brekky was a great smorgasboard choice of pastries, cereals, and egg options with the later changing each day. The omelettes were delicious.
And the beach has a few deck lounges and umbrellas for guests Vs sitting on the rocky beach.
There's also a Cafe to one side of the Units that caters for tourists and guests with a good range of options. As the buses come in it can get a little busy yet you can always go back to one of the larger deck areas in the complex that also overlooks the ocean.
Great place to unwind.
Steps, steps and more steps.. but great views

We booked this hotel through Booking.com. We did not know until we arrived that there were steps up to the hotel reception and EVERY room had steps to get to them. There was NO elevator. We were never made aware that the room was not accessible to those with walking difficulties..However, we did stay there but access to our room was very difficulty as I do have walking difficulties. Mathias, the owner, offered to give us our money back, but as it was peak season, and mid afternoon the chances of finding alternative rooms was low. We felt we had to stay..
In our opinion this is not a "true" hotel. There were no phones in the rooms, the bar closed at 9.00pm, there was no option to eat there except for bar snacks (which close at 9.00pm)..It would be better to describe it as a B & B .. with a snack bar.
However, the rooms are lovely, the bathrooms are great, and the views are nothing less than stupendous...
Mathias described the hotel to us as a quite place, but children were running around and quite noisy..
A lovely place to stay with great views and fabulous location...
but Oh.. those steps..!!..
Quiet, Relaxing Place

This hotel doesn't charge you 750 Euros a night at the Ambassador Hotel for having your own private pool in Santorini. However, it does offer relaxation, and quiet time surrounded by the best beaches around Santorini. Based on the price per night, the location, the service, and the hospitality are amazing. Public transportation is available from the hotel to Thira, the capital. If you want to spend less money for more I recommend this hotel.
