Amazing Luxury, yet, oh so chill.
We stayed at Nayara for our second time in March 2020. We had last visited this resort in 2013, so a lot had changed since then, but the ultimate vibe of supreme relaxation and pampering had not changed. We recently visited just after COVID-19 shut the country down to tourists, so our stay was a bit different than it was during our first visit in in 2013, but not necessarily for the worst. Half of the resort/restaurants were closed this visit, so we missed out on our favorite sushi place, but we had the luxury of being one of the few guests. Because many of the restaurants were closed at the resort (at no fault to the hotel!) we explored the local town, La Fortuna more than we did our first visit, but we were so happy to call Nayara "home" at the end of the day. We ate dinner at Nayara each night. Not only was the service out of this world, the food and drinks were phenomenal each night! I've dreamt about the beef tenderloin dish at Mis Amores since we left. We loved the happy-hour 2 for 1's at the pool bar! We spent so much time at the pool bar that pruney hands became our norm and the bartenders became our friends. We were treated like royalty at the wine bar and we visited the coffee shop so many times during our trip that the [very skilled] barista basically knew us by name. When we arrived our concierge took us on a golf cart ride to show us what had changed since 2013. Since our first trip (which was to what is now known as Nayara Gardens), since our last trip they added Nayara Springs, the hot springs and the tent portion of the resort, which are by no means traditional tents. They take Glamping (Glamorous Camping) to a whole new level We might stay there next! Our room at Nayara Springs, was not too different from our last room at Nayara Gardens. Both were separate cabins- LUXURIOUS cabins! In the gardens we had a jacuzzi bathtub on our back porch, in the Springs we had a hot spring-fed pool. The furnishings in the Springs were a bit more "gucci" than the Gardens (i.e. crystal light fixtures), but overall, the rooms were about the same. The bathrooms very similar with a dual headed rain shower indoors and an outdoor shower. I LOVED THE PRIVATE OUTDOOR SHOWER (at both). The first time we stayed, years ago, it was all one resort, and I don't remember many kids. This last time we visited, because half of the resort was closed, kids were allowed everywhere. There weren't many though, so it wasn't a problem. Overall, this is probably my FAVORITE resort worldwide. It in in it's own category- a luxury pura vida vibe!
Luxury and Privacy at its Finest
I would go to Costa Rica again just to visit Nayara Springs. I really didn't even want to leave my room but we did venture out on an all day private tour at the hanging bridges and waterfall. Our tour guide showed us the most amazing animals we would have missed without her trained eye. The stop at a local restaurant for lunch was one of my favorite meals there. Cocktails and food are incredible at Nayara.
Stunning! At The Top Of Our Favorite Hotels List
I remember when we booked The Springs I was struck at how wonderful the TA reviews were. Never seen anything like that before. After spending three nights there - I now totally understand. This facility is fabulous in all ways. There are no negatives! Check-in is smooth and very intimate. There are so many restaurant and activity options it required a lengthy discussion with the concierge and the resort map to develop a plan for our visit. Our check-in concierge was terrific. Our room - our own stand-alone villa is more accurate - was amazing. Nearly 1,500 SF with private outdoor double showers plus a very private plunge pool and outdoor porch with hammock and couch. The bathroom area is massive and divided into hers and his. There is a large sitting area as well. The villa architecture feels West Indies and the pictures in TA are quite accurate. We spent hours and hours on the private porch and in the warmed plunge pool (natural hot springs warmed). The landscaping throughout the resort is fabulous. This is a rainforest and every walk on the grounds connected us to the rainforest. It was lovely. Flowers, birds, lush plantings. I've never seen anything like it! TIP: There are three sections to the Nayara Resort and we stayed in The Springs. Each is unique in a way but the Springs offers the most central location, we believe. TIP: Walking to restaurants, the spa, or the front desk can be a challenge as paths are often steep and distances are pretty long. We managed but know you can request a ride from place-to-place on a resort golf cart. TIP: Ask for a villa where no resort walkways are close by. Quieter always better! We loved Nayara Springs so much we will absolutely return and spend a full week there. I already can't wait!
Nayara in the middle of the rainforest is truly amazing. Nothing can be compared to it. The location deep in the rainforest is spectacular and the quality of the villa was overwhelming. The service of the staff goes beyond what you can imagine. And it is everyone. From front desk to the cleaning personnel. Very nice food in all their restaurants. You can even get good wine! Highly recommended. Pura Vida!!
It's all about the people
This is a fantastic hotel, in a really lovely setting. Yes it is on a hill, but we felt that the walking helped to offset the lovely food we had for breakfast, and in the evenings. We were here for five nights, and the villa was fabulous - huge, very comfortable bed, spotlessly cleaned, etc. The grounds are filled with incredible wildlife, the views to the nearby volcano are great, ice cream from the coffee shop (try the chocolate) was superb, the hot springs-heated private pool was fabulous, but what really made the hotel so enjoyable was the staff. Every single person we met from cleaners, ground staff, to receptionists, were always very friendly, and seemed to genuinely be interested in customers as individuals. We were very happy with everything about our stay at Nayara Springs, and could not have asked for any more.
