Review Savk (During Covid)
Location - Ideal (near most routes and accessible to transport/car rental / Beach on doorstep / Close to amenities walking distance to shops/centre) Rooms - Poor - A/C above bed, and Bathroom vent source of cigar smoke/No Iron/ No Kettle/ No complimentary water and Shampoo/Soap not restocked/Fridge barely keeps items cool/Safe Box requires activating (Do get cleaned daily though). (Side Sea View rooms - balcony v.small - suitable for single persons). Meals - Quality is reasonable in Evening, Breakfasts dull, service (perhaps due to covid) is haphazard, similar to a prison/militarily camp (staff cannot understand) and end up with a lottery dollop of something on the plate (no trays provided). Al fresco dining accompanied by many cats and flies and over eager table cleaners. Drinks £££ extra. WiFi - Poor (better reception on beach from adjacent hotels) Pool - Small (kids pool about 2m2) All other services (out of action due to Covid). Some good music and activities available from adjacent hotels though. Sea - Clean and safe All in all it’s tolerable if you don’t spend too much time in the room, and you can rely on other activities/tours as well as eating/drinking outside the hotel, being a smoker and a cat lover helps, but for some people I could imagine this being a horror story. Perplexed at its four star rating, I’ve been in better two/three star hotels in Turkey in the recent past.
Excellent way of maniging Covid-19 crisis
A lot has already been said about the hotel itself, I would not add anything, I am currently here and I am completely OK. However, I would like to draw your attention, hopefully my review will be short-lived and soon irrelevant to everyone. Namely, the way this hotel is coping with the Covid crisis is every praise worth. Employers who work here people do their best every single day. Everyone wears masks, hand sanitizers are on the walls entering every public spase. The routes to the restaurant are marked, taking care of the adequate distance. Masks are available and mandatory for guests while taking food for meals. The restaurant is outdoors, each table has a disinfectant. In fact, the entire restaurant changed its way of working in accordance to the measures during the epidemic. Guests do not approach to tables with food. From a safe distance they can read in three languages what the meal is. Waiters give them an explanation as addition, then fill the plates for every single guest. And everything works more the best possible way. If anyone has second thoughts about visiting this place during this weird and unsafe summer season, let them feel free to stay in Savk Hotel and be almost carefree.
Be prepared
So where do I start. I have spent over 1000 nights in hotels across the world. The Savk Hotel is marketed as a family friendly, 4 star hotel. It’s not. We traveled as a family.....two adults and a 22 month old, having booked via Loveholidays. I will break this down to facilitate any response. 1. On arrival I was asked for our hotel voucher........ never received one form Love Holidays or the hotel when I booked. Not an issue as they had my booking in their system. 2. There was no cot in the room, when one was found there was no mattress available and one never arrived throughout our 7 night stay. Repeated requests were met with shrugs. 3. The room was tiny; in no way a family room that you would expect from a 4 star Hotel marketed as family friendly. 4. There was no kettle, tea or coffee facilities in the room. 5. The fridge is a cooler not a fridge and even when turned to max, by the maintenance chap, didn’t really get cold. 6. The cooler was full of fizzy drinks and chocolate when we arrived so we had to ask for it to be emptied. At this point we found a puddle in the bottom, so it had to be cleaned and checked by maintenance. 7. The room, bathroom and decor are tired and in need of updating. 8. Air conditioner worked but was noisy and switched off when you left the room. Not helpful when you have a toddler and it’s 40* outside. 9. The balcony has space for one to sit and that’s it. Two chairs and a table are provided but can’t be used at the same time. 10. The security latch on the main door was missing on arrival and even after pointing it out to staff on day one, hour one, it remained missing. Not helpful when you have a toddler in the room. 11. The pool is not as big as it appears in the pictures and is in need of maintenance. 12. The jacuzzi never worked. 13. A glass was left beside the children’s pool all week. 14. The pool area was rarely swept and bins were only emptied every other day. 15. Wooden trim on both large and child pools was missing and lose in places. 16. Food..... If you are looking for conventional European fair then this is not the place for you. There is no allowance made for children what so ever. Breakfast....There are no fruit juices, croissants, fruits or yoghurts available. Only two types of cereal are provided along with some form of diluted squash. Diner.... A mixed buffet catering solely for adults and for the German,Turkish, Russian pallet. Quantity was good as were the salads. No child option offered. 17. Waiting staff work hard but can be slow to respond when required. We had a couple of nights where the hotel was full; on one of those nights the staff really struggled, kept disappearing and forgot to deliver drinks orders. 18. The gym.... forget it. It’s an oven with no aircon, poor equipment and dirty. Training in a glass box, even with the doors folded back, is a very sweaty experience so take care. There’s no water fountain, paper towel and very limited working equipment. 19. You have to pay for beach/pool towels and to use one of the sun loungers on the private/ exclusive beach In summary. This hotel’s location is perfect BUT it is not a 4 star family hotel and is in dire need of updating. I will be taking this up with Love holidays as well so this review will be updated in due course.
Great hotel and staff
Stayed here for five nights. The one thing that really stands out here is how accommodating the staff are - nothing was too much trouble. We arrived late and had a small meal put aside for us, which we were very grateful for after traveling all day. The hotel itself could do with a little freshening up, parts look a little tired and in need of some fresh paint, grout etc. However it is right on the beach where you can rent a sun lounger for a small charge and even have drinks brought to you there. There’s plenty to do in the area with lots of nice bars and restaurants as well as sights to see and activities for all ages. Anytime we needed anything such as recommendations or directions the staff were more than happy to help. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and are looking forward to returning next year.
Miss
The service here is horrible. The staff messed up my booking and now when I have complained they have blamed us and the worst part is that loveholidays has done nothing about this whole situation. The breakfast is not all as seems and the rooms are very very basic for such a big hotel.
