Wonderful motel, family friendly

Reviewed 7 february, 2022

We love Garden Court Motel. Highlights include the well kept pretty gardens, friendly owners, extra details such as restaurant vouchers and great local advice, and in summer there is the pool for cooling off. Definitely recommend. Good hospitality, warm rooms, friendly management. What more could you ask for!

Very dated - worst of the rooms

Reviewed 19 january, 2021

Stayed here for 4 nights with the family. Agree with some others that the signage is poor as we drove passed the entrance several times. We stayed in room 5 which did appear to be the worst room in terms of setting. The car park for the room was in front of the sliding door entrance, the outdoor seating area for the room was a small round metal/glass table and 2 chairs tucked around a corner of the building looking straight down to the gravel driveway, reception and the other units. Again I think we had the bad draw as all the other units appeared to have seating areas out the back of their unit overlooking the lovely gardens. The room itself, 1 bedroom with twin beds and a double in the lounge. 2 bucket style chairs in the lounge at odd positions in opposite corners of the room. 1 chair with a broken leg. Decor and furniture very outdated. Manager was rude and abrupt on check in and each time we saw her. Small parapool on site which is safely behind fence. Some old chairs around the pool to sit and watch the kids. Room was exceptionally clean and the cleaner was super friendly.

Though no one was at the office upon arrival, arrangements had been made for room access, and the heater warming up the room was a nice touch. The lighting at night highlighting the motel position and marking the driveway leave a lot to be desired. there was none, and trying to locate the place at night nigh impossible from the main road.

Spacious and a good location

Had 2 nights there{room 5} and even though it was quite old style in many ways we were pretty happy with our room which was large compared to most motel rooms. The lady host was very helpful as our reason for staying there was to do part of the Otago rail trail on our bikes.

Nice little set up.

Stayed here for one night. It has a nice feel to it, the staff were lovely. The Wifi is not free however which is something most places offer for free these days. The little unit i stayed in was very nice. Kitchen was a bit dated but still did the job well enough. bed was quite comfortable. It would be the perfectly little place to stay with a family for a while as it had everything they would need.
