We travelled a couple with a baby to this lovely hotel which is well situated right on the beach. We stayed in a suite which was nicely decorated with a small lounge room off the bedroom which both had tv’s. We found the bed comfortable. Our view was not the best as we were facing the side of the hotel. The hotel should maintain this area better by planting some flowers etc and I think that would make a difference. The pool view snd sea view rooms would be better for the view.
The breakfast was excellent and good quality. We are at the pool restaurant a couple of times and the food was good there also. I do think the menu would be better if they had more lighter meals such as sandwiches as that is all you need during the day and I think more guests would eat there for lunch if there were lighter more reasonably priced meals on the menu.
We were there in September so there was not many children so I think it would be more suited during this time for couples or groups of adults.
Alvor is a lovely resort and the walk from the hotel by the boardwalk is very nice however it would be great if they improved the main walkway to Alvor as there is no paths a lot of the way and is quite dangerous especially with a buggy.
All in all I would very much recommend this hotel and we had a fabulous holiday!

We loved the hotel! Its location, the room, the staff, everything! The 3 infinity pools are amazing, the whole pool area and the easy and fast access to the beach.
If you can, chose a Deluxe room with sea view! They are big, have a wonderful bathtub, as well as a big walk in shower and the bed is huge.
Lovely hotel & staff, definitely recommended.

Great check in, welcoming and helpful staff, lovely room, clean, modern, comfortable. Our room overlooked both the beach and the pool area which was fabulous. We could hear the ocean from our room when the windows where open.
Breakfast was very nice with lots of variety, fruits, cereals, yogurt, cheeses, meats and a hot breakfast. We had lunch there every day, fabulous salads. The pool area is really lovely. Our flight was a late evening flight, thankfully the hotel was able to accommodate a late check out which was so appreciated. We are frequent visitors to Alvor and in future this hotel will be our first choice.

Had a wonderful stay at Pestana Alvor South Beach for the week. It's in a wonderful location on the beachfront & the pool area is lovely with comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas. Room was really nice.. was spacious and airy, had all the basics with modern interior. Hotel is 10 minute stroll into Alvor town where all the bars and restaurants. Breakfast was very tasty and great choice. Seadeck Restaurant good for lunch and also had a nice dinner there. Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would love to revisit!
Good location, but staff need to learn how to solve some big issues

We stayed at this hotel towards the end of August 2021, hoping the majority of tourists would have left by then. Unfortunately, the hotel was quite full, which gave rise to some of the most pathetic displays of human selfishness I have yet seen: as there was a shortage of parasols or places in the shade, many guests would reserve the best sunbeds (often at different places, so as to be able to move around). It was made clear to us on arrival that this would not be tolerated, so we assumed this would be a civilized hotel, similar to what we had seen in Italy and other places, where staff regularly remove towels and personal belongings and explain to guests that the absence of rules leads to anarchy.
At the Pestana South Beach Alvor, I asked a member of staff to remove the belongings of a family that had reserved six spaces (for four people) in the shade, as I did not wish to lie in the scorching sun. I had to insist a lot, but got the sunbed in the end. When the family in question returned, I was submitted to a torrent of (partly homophobic and racist) abuse and threats of physical violence (surprising how quickly some people resort to violence rather than negotiation, but that is human nature, I guess); when this did not work, they proceeded to sit on my sunbed, breaking the social distancing rules as well for good measure.
When the manager finally arrived, he immediately noticed I was the only person worth talking to and asked me to please vacate the sunbed, as there would be no solution otherwise; this I did, as I do not think it is fair to other guests to be submitted to this degrading show on holiday, but I think the case ought to have been settled in a different manner if the hotel was more interested in making guests abide by the rules than in trying to please everyone in order not to lose any potential customers. If they had threatened to call security and kick them out, this would have been an example that order prevails and that breaking rules does not pay; instead, the group (who cheerfully continued to reserve as many sunbeds as they wanted throughout their stay, forcing other guests and their young children to lie in the grass for shade) must have left thinking that anything goes, and that being antisocial is the new normal.
I should point out that staff were always extremely kind to all guests, sometimes to a fault, and that there was nothing we could really find fault with (yes, breakfast is rather basic, and the bedrooms could be better appointed). However, there was a clear lack of experience and an unwillingness to be firm with antisocial guests; this, unfortunately, is a very slippery slope -- who knows what people like this will get away with next?
