Okay room, no internet, crappy TV.
Checked in with a mask-less desk clerk. Wifi is not accessible in my back corner room. Room itself is relatively clean (marks of blood in two places on the walls?). It will do for a night, but you can probably do better at the Residence Inn next door, even with a pet. On TV, Fox 14 is the only broadcast channel available. Mostly there are shopping channels. It is a pretty pathetic TV lineup. I-40 is right outside.
Surprisingly nice!
I stayed here on night 5 of a cross-country trip. The woman at the front desk was so welcoming and cheerful! Quite a nice interaction to have when you’re tired and road-weary. My room was very clean and comfortable. It was also quite large. My 12-pound dog and I had 2 beds, small fridge & coffee maker. Plenty of towels, decent flat screen tv with good options for viewing. It was Labor Day weekend & I expected to hear some party noise, but it was quiet & peaceful. This is a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, safe & reasonably priced with easy on & off the highway.
Um never again!
Was the filthiest room I have ever stayed in... floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in awhile. There was a large puddle of dried wax over by desk. Microwave had no glass plate in it. Mini fridge needed defrosting and when you opened it would fall forward out of cabinet. Large cracks in ceilings. Drug deals going on in parking lot. Front desk girls were nice and helpful. Ac blew cold and bed was comfy.
No. Just don't.
None of the front desk people were masked, and only some of the patrons were masked. We'd paid for our room through Priceline but the front desk woman was for the longest time unable to find our reservation (which meant we had to stand for a long time in their lobby with all the unmasked people at a time when covid rates are *blooming* in Texas). Our actual room was...fine...nothing obviously dirty or worn about it but somehow the overall atmosphere of shabbiness just made the stay very depressing. The room came with the world's cheapest and least functional bar of soap -- honestly, I didn't know it was possible to *get* soap that cheap and useless -- and very tiny towels. Maybe other Red Roof Inns are okay This one is not.
Unprofessional, confussed night staff, dirty room(s)
We made our reservation about 2 weeks in advance for a two queen/non smoking room (due to severe allergy issues) and arrived after a long day at about 10:30pm. The front desk was preoccupied with a conversation with each other and on a cell phone call. They gave us a key and a pamphlet that tells how they extra clean their rooms due to COVID and we proceeded to the room only to find it had not been cleaned. Beds not made and spills and towels around the room. Went back to the desk who was still talking on their cell phone and they gave us another room that smelled like someone had been smoking pot or something. Went back to the desk again and they took us to another room that was also a smoking room and was at least made up, but still had spills and sticky stuff on the night stand and only 2 towels for 3 of us. The staff then told us to either take it or they would refund us. As it was now after 11pm. I had two tired kids and where were we supposed to go given the current health and hotel room availability situation. I decided to just take the room and cleaned up the spills myself. I have stayed a numerous Red Roofs over the years and this is the first time I have ever had this kind of unprofessional treatment. I make reservations in advance to guarantee a clean, smoke free room. I'm pretty sure they gave our room away and then were scrambling to find another room. Clean up your act, PLEASE!
