Beautiful and perfectly located property, amazing welcoming team!

Reviewed 2 november, 2022

Fantastic location in front of the Vondelpark, right in the center, close to the museumplein and next to very nice restaurants. Beautiful building, great common areas to drink a coffee and relax, or to work. Amazing and so welcoming team: thank you very much for this great stay! We will come back for sure!

Well located and easy access (elevator!)

Reviewed 17 october, 2022

Well located in the first external ring of Amsterdam, close to park and museums. Also better then regular locals house, due to access and support to tourism as front desk in case you need to receive anything (my luggage got lost in Schirpol) and ELEVATOR

Needs a bit more attention to detail

With just a bit more attention to detail, I could give Sonder Park house 5 stars. Important to know: we stayed at CitizenM in NYC a few months ago, and they have ruined us for other chain hotels! The bar is now set very high. (Their Amsterdam rates were too high for us.) First, what was great about Sonder Park House: The staff, including front desk and housekeeping. We were always greeted coming into the hotel and the front desk staff were very helpful in resolving a couple issues. See below. The location is wonderful. It's in an upscale neighborhood that is quiet except for some distant carousing on weekends. The only reason I heard this is because I was awake with my usual insomnia. Getting to all of the attractions and restaurants was very easy either via walking or tram. Our room was at the front of the hotel and it was really nice having the bay windows for a little bit of extra room. The bed was really comfortable and we loved all the big fluffy pillows! There is plenty of storage for clothing. The heated bathroom floor is a wonderful feature. Not so great, especially as this is a 3-star hotel: The doorknob to the armoire came off in my hand when I tried to open the door. The hinges also screeched like banshees when opening and closing the doors. Not only was this annoying but it indicates that staff are not checking the closets for any belongings and functionality. Staff resolved this within hours of being informed. There was peeling paint on the wall by the bathroom. One of the door handles to open the windows had been completely broken off by previous guests, but put back into place to it wasn’t obvious. The one available door was really hard to open. One of the long heavy curtains was off two hooks, which made it difficult to close completely. The bedside lamps are a large single bulb with no lamp shade. When we turned them on, they burned with the intensity of 10,000 suns and are unusable. Some of the outlets don't work unless you put your room key into the electronic sensor by the door. This was not explained to us upon checking in and there isn’t any signage to explain this. Now for the petty: A Nespresso machine is provided, but only 4 coffee pods. As we were staying 5 nights, it would have been nice to have the full complement. This is the typical practice in other hotels/apartments we’ve stayed in. Of course, we did receive more when we asked! Only paper cups are provided. Tacky. This may be a workforce issue, as when I asked for cups and a glass for the bathroom the staff shared they don’t have anyone to clean them. I did manage to wrangle a glass coffee cup for use in the bathroom. The hairdryer provided operated only when a bar on the handle was depressed. You basically needed a Vulcan death grip to keep the power on. I asked for a different one from staff and she cheerfully provided a normal model, acknowledging the one provided was difficult to use. Bottom line: I’d look for a VRBO or different hotel for my next Amsterdam stay, given how much we paid and the 3-star rating. I expected better.

Fantastic location in Amsterdam

Well located, a short walk to museumplein and right next to Vondelpark. Some great restaurants just around the corner on van Baerlen straat. Hotel rooms are sufficient. I was in a downstairs room (below street level) and my mom in a superior room upstairs. Clean, comfortable bed, and served it's purpose for a few days in the city. Fairly priced for what you get and I would recommend this to anyone visiting a couple museums during their stay. Also has a tram line not too far-away.

Great location for a more chill Amsterdam experience

Reviewed 3 october, 2022

This location was great for us. Its a bit of a walk to the Red Light District, but its better that way. There is so much happening in this area its easy to forget that the location is not in the city center. The beds are comfy. The rooms seem a bit cheaply renovated. The bathroom situation is not that great. We didn't care because we weren't there to hang out in our room.
