Nice North Woods Hotel

Reviewed 1 december, 2022

Modern, Lots of space in the room, great variety with breakfast. Two, east to access resturants around the corner. And a Co-op as well for those with special dietary needs just down a block. Just beyond, a coffee shop and bakery with lots of fresh pastry.

Top line quality at a moderate cost

My wife and I, plus our two Shelties, were looking through Ashland and Bayfield a week prior to the annual Apple Festival. This was the best combination of rating, cost and pet friendly that we could find in that area and I’m very glad we booked in for the night. Very friendly and efficient front desk staff made check in quick and easy. Room was excellent - spacious, clean and well serviced. We will not hesitate to. Book here again when next in the area. As a side note, the cost of travelling with your pets is. Becoming increasingly expensive and that was the case here - $25/dog for the night, total $50 is at the high end of the current price range. I’m still glad we stayed there despite that but it sure increases the cost of travel. And while we clean up after our pets without exception I know there are many who don’t and it seems we all have to pay the price for that.

So clean and great location!

We stayed in the King Extended Stay Suite - The room, kitchenette, appliances, and utensils included were all extremely clean. The hotel location was perfect for us. There was a great restaurant next door and a co-op within walking distance (to pick up groceries we forgot and local beers that we didn't know we needed). Arby's, McDonalds, a gas station and liquor store all within a block as well. And we could see the Bay from our hotel rooom. We came for the Whistlestop Marathon, and all of that was just a 10-minute walk away. Breakfast was good and plenty of variety. Hotel Staff were welcoming and accommodating. A little pricey for a hotel with no pool, but we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Nice small hotel in small town.

The hotel is in perfect location in town near Lake Superior and there is one gas station with convenience store near by. The hotel looks clean and new. The only downside is on day two, breakfast is not ready almost an hour after it opened, there are not many option there due to lack of employee. I saw only one person deal with so much task that morning.

Average chain hotel at a fair price

Reviewed 12 october, 2022

We were passing through on a cross-country road trip and ended up in Ashland on a holiday weekend, not realizing it was a resort area. Several hotels were full or were charging premium prices for the night we needed, so we booked here. It's a Midwest-based chain that was unfamiliar to us, but sounded reasonable. It wasn't terrible, and in fact there were some nice touches like crisp cotton sheets, something not all hotels offer anymore. However, the room faced the parking lot and light came in all night (blackout curtains wouldn't close all the way), so we didn't get much sleep. The breakfast buffet had what we needed, and we were able to get on the road quickly. I just didn't love the place and wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
