Welcoming city, welcoming hosts.

Located on a narrow pedestrian street in the heart of Avignon, we stayed in a 17th century building with modern comforts and the friendliest hosts, Stephan and Emmanvelle. They both spoke excellent English and answered our every question. We ate at the restaurants they recommended and they were all excellent. The front door and the winding staircase were obviously 300 years old, but the bathroom was modern, the air conditioning worked well, and the beds were comfortable. We had two large windows in our room which also offered cross ventilation and lots of light. We loved Avignon and when we come back, this is where we will want to stay.

We had a great visit in Avignon. Stephane and Hotel Garlande were the backbone for our success.
We were sent an email with a link to the hotel’s online presence that included detailed information about the hotel and local information right after we booked. They answered questions quickly before our arrival and worked with us to check in after their normal hours.
This hotel is situated right in the middle of town, exactly right for a tourist visit. It’s in the pedestrian center, so no traffic noise, yet only a 10 minute walk from the train station with our bags. Very good restaurants within a block or two and easily walkable to tourist attractions.
Rooms are actually a bit bigger than what we are used to in Europe. We were on the top floor, and the stairs are steep and small, especially with luggage, but no problem as long as you know. Take it one bag at a time! I’ll post pics of the room. Great a/c for comfort and super clean!
Now for the amazing. Stephane takes service above and beyond what I have ever experienced, and I travel for work so stay in hotels a lot. He speaks English fluently, which helped a ton since my French skills are mediocre at best. His recommendations for restaurants and tips on what to see around town are spot on. He went out of his way to help us navigate the confusing requirements for Americans in France during the pandemic, even closing his desk to accompany us to the pharmacy and volunteered to use his phone since their platform wasn’t working to communicate with a US number.
Overall, extremely happy with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
Another Four Nights

I stayed here another four nights to eat and drink well in Provence. The hotel is the same as last year, but my room (#7) was recently remodeled and was very modern. The hotel is located in a convenient place inside the old walls and was quiet at night. It is close to restaurants and the palace of the popes. The owners are very helpful and provided us with reservations at excellent restaurants. Their breakfast is very nice with many homemade choices. I am returning in January with a neighbor and friend.
Excellent hotel in Avignon

I stayed here solo for a week to take care of some personal business in Avignon. It is just a wonderful place in every way. The owners contacted me in advance to make sure all my questions were answered, and they were gracious and helpful throughout my stay. The location is perfect, the property well cared for, the breakfasts excellent.
Nice hotel in great location

Hotel Garlande is a block off the main street in Avignon and just a block away from Place de l’Horloge. The hotel corresponded with us prior to the trip and offered us an upgraded room and a discounted fee on the breakfast if we took it for both mornings of our stay. We paid the extra 20 euro/night for the upgraded room, but decided we would probably want to grab breakfast while out walking one of the mornings. The room was clean and with the upgrade we got a little sitting room that provided a little bit of extra room. The bathroom was modern and had plenty of room for our toiletries (which can be a challenge in many european hotels). While the exterior is nothing unusual, the interior is well renovated and very clean and neat. The front door is 300 years old and unique. There is no elevator in the hotel. That was not an issue as we were on the 2nd floor, but could be a challenge if you have a hard time with stairs. We would stay at Hotel Garlande again.
