Come on you have to do better!

Four of us went for my wife's birthday meal on what is one of the best locations in Aberdeenshire and on the warmest day of the year. However, the staff serving and the kitchen seemed to be way out of sync. Two starters came out of four and we waited and waited.. I had to ask for my starter twice. My wife got her main meal before I and my son had received our starter. I had to get the supervisor with her earpiece to the kitchen, over. She went to sort it out. Then came my main meal without potato wedged ordered for my son and myself. Again, I nicely complained!
My main meal due to it being delivered 15 mins ago, was cold by the time the rest of the others meals were delivered as were my my wedges. My sons was not even properly cooked. A vegi meal was contaminated by what may have been tuna? But my sons Venison wrap had a rogue prawn in it.... Not good enough, sloppy. You need to sort this out. I do not like to complain, the staff are very nice, but kitchen and service ultra sloppy.. Thanks for the Birthday meal. Not great at all for such a wonderful place...not one of us happy with it. They did take money off but I would rather had a professionally cooked and served meal from such a great place.

Banchory Lodge has many selling points not least of all its beautiful setting on the banks of the river Dee and its easy access to the village. The grounds are beautiful and excellently maintained and the staff are extremely friendly. The hotel itself did not however meet our expectations. During our 3 night stay we dined in the hotel once, the menu was not to our liking but to be honest we could have worked this out online before booking, what we did not anticipate was the level of "dog friendliness" which meant we were joined by furry friends in the dining room. Although it is clear that dogs are welcome perhaps naively we did not realise how many areas of the hotel would accommodate dogs which made me feel very uncomfortable especially in food service areas. Thankfully the staff were kind enough to accommodate us in a dog free area for breakfast but this did tarnish our experience, We booked a "comfy double" which in reality meant a very small room and the level of cleanliness fell way below our expected standards, on one day the room was not serviced at all and upon arrival we found dog hairs on the carpet and surfaces which were very dusty. Other small cleanliness issues such as empty hand sanitising stations and no serving tongs at the breakfast buffet impacted on the overall standard. The staff are very friendly but upon check out quite dismissive of our concerns about the quality of the room, the evening staff are clearly less experienced which caused some problems during our one an only dinner but the morning staff were excellent and the breakfast of a good standard. Overall it was not value for money and it is unlikely we would opt for a return visit.

Went to Banchory Lodge for family lunch. Cannot comment on the rooms but if anything like our dining experience I'd give it a miss. Shown to a very breezy table for four(there werre 6 of us) off reception area and left to fend for ourselves. Had to ask for drinks menu as no sign of any waiting staff. Served a sauvignon blanc that would have stripped paint,a torched (!!) tenderstem brocoli and goats cheese that looked like the contents of my recycling bin. Was assured the fish and chips were the best in banchory. God help the locals if that is Banchorys finest. And can we please have the condiments before we have finished eating.Waiter must have been on a chip selling bonus. Tried his very best to pour the paint stripper down our throats at top speed in the vain hope we would order more...seriously once bitten... and talking of bitten everything was served to a background of howling dog...non f3k1n stop...you may be dog friendly but you're not human friendly..the unusual entertainment thrown in of pensioner parcour as the poor sods were hurried to their tables by the keen chip seller was somewhat unsettling. I did leave a small tip not for the food or drink or our service but for the beautiful view and for one waiters kindness in cutting up an elderly customers meal...almost brought a tear to my eye or was that just our Banchory Lodge experience

We had a great time here with friends. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room we had was great. It had a sitting area in a separate room which was great for us to sit and catch up in. The food in the restaurant was very good. Breakfast was good as Well.
Dinner in the Main Restaurant

Had our pre-dinner drinks in the bar-restaurant.
The Hotel is dog-friendly as was clearly evidenced by the numbers out on the decking and grounds. At the table adjacent to us in the bar two hotel residents who were dining were feeding their dog under the table when a member of staff who was passing patted its head then moved on. Not very hygienic in several respects.
The staff are very pleasant and eager to please.
Dining room was comfortable.
The atypical range of starters did not appeal. We both opted for the 5 spice duck as a main, that was excellent. Only one special was on offer, that being half lobster.
If the main menu is fixed for the season one would appreciate a couple more special dishes.
