The food and drinks were really good, and also the service by Dear and Gunz is so good. They are really kind and even gave me some bread because the Pad Thai was a little bit too spicy for me. The view on the city is just breathtaking. I love the place and the people here.

Great food & cocktail, thank to staff K.Beer , K.Nan and K.An for your warm service mind. Thank for your attention and care to check for allergic food. For food, I recommend Hokkido scallops and Beef, all are perfect cooked.

4 Star review for a 4 Star hotel

Reviewed 2 december, 2022

The hotel aspires to 5 stardom, and bills itself as such. But it just isn't. Don't get me wrong, I like the place, I keep coming back, and I'll say why. But it also has it's kinks which make it fall short of a real 5 star hotel. And I'll mention those too. So here's the good and not so good: First off, location is spectacular. Literally could not be better. There are restaurants, nightlife, and shopping within walking distance. And it's right on the interchange of the two best public transit lines, the MTS blue line and the most useful BTS. So no matter where you want to go in the city, you're probably going to get there using public transit, and not even have to change lines. The noise level is fairly quiet. This time I could hear the traffic on busy Sukhumvit, but only barely. The higher the floor, the better. A/C works well and is very quiet. The fridge is also quiet, though it takes a while to cool anything. I asked for a soft mattress, and this one is soft... enough. The Westin bed it is not, but it's also not your typical hard Asian bed, which is incredibly hard to find in Thailand, even among 5 star hotels. The pillows came with a foam and really nice feather version, the latter of which are some of the best one can get in a hotel. The room is tastefully designed with nice features like real blackout curtains, though the smaller rooms tend to be more cramped. Mine was spacious enough, but I splurged on an executive skyview room this time. I will say that the sky "privileges" are really not worth it. I pictured a little buffet of snacks. Instead, you go in, get a menu, and you can order from a set menu of cocktails and snacks (maximum two per person). Then you have to wait... and maybe wait some more. For some reason it took 20 minutes to get me oysters, and it only came when I was about to leave. Does it really need to take 20 minutes to shuck an oyster? So if you want to just check things out, it doesn't work like that. It's a time commitment for some not very great food, in a city full of absolutely amazing food. Oh, and speaking of waiting, from my last visit I was already prepared for the slow elevators. What I was not prepared for, was that one of two elevators would be broken my entire stay. When I got there, I immediately knew this would be a disaster, and I asked them when they thought it would be fixed. "Maybe one hour" was the response. Well here we are, 4 days later, and still no fix. This is the kind of thing that separates this hotel from someplace like a Marriott or a Sofitel, where they pay what it takes to fix it and fix it NOW. The hotel staff did their best to accommodate guests, always making room for guests on the elevators if they needed to use them. Of course, that carries its own issues, and may have contributed to my coming back one afternoon and finding them STILL only in the process of cleaning my room -at 16:30! Toiletries are another thing. No soap? Seriously? That's not a 5 star hotel. Sorry, but shower gel out of a big bottle and a softsoap dispenser on the sink is not the same as real bars of soap. Same with just having a big bottle of shampoo for the bathroom. Maybe same same, but different. But I just think it makes them look cheap and tacky. But two bottles of water are given and replenished daily, so that's nice. Breakfast is... adequate. There's a decent selection of Asian and Western dishes. Made to order eggs (no bacon though). Pastries and croissants are decent enough, but fruits are lacking. And the quality of the ham and sausage are not the best. Nor is there any seafood, like lox. Again, the spread looks pretty at first glance, but scratch beneath the surface and you can tell it's not a 5 star hotel. OTOH, the pool is where this place really shines. Can't beat watching the sunset from the 37th floor pool club. It's a bit on the small side, with only a couple of pool loungers, but when it's not too crowded, I daresay it's a better setup than many actual 5 star hotels. So that's The Continent. Not 5 star by any means, but brilliant location, combined with soft beds, and an amazing pool area, all at a very fair price, keeps me coming back.

Great location, nice staff

Reviewed 29 november, 2022

This is a fine place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are helpful and it is hard to find much fault...except... The hotel is rather small in footprint, but stacked quite high. There are only two elevators up to the many floors and unfortunately one elevator was out while I was there, making for some very long waits. These things happen, of course, and it really does not detract from what is a good option.
