We had a wonderful stay! Rooms were clean and nice. Location was very convenient and walkable to all the sites not to mention that there is a metro just in front of the hotel. Staff was very accommodating even preparing a picnic breakfast for us to bring along cause we often go early. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Barcelona.
Hidden Gem in Barcelona
It was our first time in Barcelona and we were looking to stay somewhere central, but not too touristy. ANBA was perfect -- both in accommodations (room was beautiful, clean, cute balcony, comfortable bed) and in hospitality (provided recommendations, delicious breakfast, spoke great english, stored bags after checkout). I highly recommend and will definitely look to stay again if I return to Barcelona.
Will DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.
Initially, I don'y think I knew this was a bed and breakfast. It said "boutique" hotel, so I was expected something smaller. When first arriving, it was small, and the room was a little tight, but I think that was just us being tired and lugging bags into the room. But then, things got so much better! Our concierge gave us a full tour. He single-handedly prepared a full breakfast. There was an "Honesty Bar" which I loved. We had an early check-out, a time when the front desk would be unoccupied. A different concierge told us that, because of our early check-out, she would make us sandwiches and snacks for our early flight. The next morning, it was right there: clementines, juice, water, sandwiches, and kit Kat bars. I haven't spent much time in bed and breakfast hotels, but this was beyond anything I've experienced. I will definitely be recommended this place.
Great B&B, and Excellent Value
I stayed at ANBA in early October 2019, and was really pleased with the property and the service. The location is in a mixed-use building, with a floor devoted just to ANBA. It's an older building, and there are wonderful antique touches, including the lobby with painted ceiling scenes and gold leaf. ANBA itself is very modern though, and comfortably laid out, and the staff did a nice job of making it a pleasant stay. The breakfasts were good and ample, and the outdoor seating space is charming. As is typical for Spain (although WHY is absolutely baffling) the bathroom was open to the room (room 7); however, both lavatory and shower had sliding glass doors that were blacked out for privacy, which is more than you can say for a lot of Barcelona hotels. For my fellow comfort-loving Americans, I can report that the a/c worked very well, and that the shower had great pressure. Several reviews mentioned subway noise, but I found during my stay there was no cause for concern - and my room was on the street looking down into the subway entrance. Sometimes I heard something like very distant thunder, and that was it. If you're really worried about it, bring ear plugs - which you'd do well to have in any city stay, regardless. There is a nice little cafe below the hotel for an alternative breakfast or coffees/snacks, the metro and a taxi stand are directly in front of the building, there's an ATM across the intersection, and it's very walkable to the Gothic Quarter, Ramblas, and other popular points. All in all, I would definitely stay here again.
Great choice ! At best on everything ! Few minutes on walk from Plaça de Catalunya, metro entrance right in front of the building, easy access by bus to practically anywhere.. Cleanliness - spotless, facilities - all you may need, tasty breakfast (a bit more variation may increase satisfaction to long term visitors, though !), Wifi - not perfect, but more than enough to do the job, STAFF - SUPERLATIVE, best you can get ! Certainly one of the best choice in it's category. Great for any type of leisure travellers !
