I wish I could give more than 5. Such an awesome place and so close to the Galleria that has everything. We always enjoy our stays. Meridian restaurant has such good food and the bartenders were awesome. Especially the lead bartender Katie!!
Good stay at a nice hotel

We stayed at this hotel over Labor Day weekend. It was a great location in Austin, near many shops and restaurants. It was clean, accessible and the people that worked at the hotel were friendly and helpful. There was an area with a nice selection of snacks and gifts- many of them local. The entryway was warm and inviting and check-in was seamless. Rooms were well appointed and included shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower, a mini refrigerator and a Keurig with coffee pods. I notice that some guests commented on the lack of daily housekeeping and availability of towels. We did not have that problem. When we needed towels and extra pillows, housekeeping delivered them promptly. It is clearly stated that housekeeping is by request only and our family appreciates the hotel being committed to sustainability and conservation of resources. It felt "covid safe" as well, since staff wore masks and the public areas and rooms were exceptionally clean. We did not visit the highly rated restaurant or pool, but will next time. While there were not a lot of extras at the hotel (free breakfast, daily housekeeping), it certainly had all we needed in a clean and comfortable setting. It fits the Austin progressive vibe.
On our first night's stay, the hotel had an issue with a sprinkler leaking, causing a period of time when we needed to evacuate the hotel. The evacuation was safe and orderly and the hotel staff handled a difficult situation well . The director of operations, Jon, responded to my comments about our stay the day after I contacted him and was kind, professional and accommodating. He asked good questions about our stay and seemed committed to excellent customer service. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family, and will stay there again when I return to Austin.

I was in town for the Lake Travis Film Festival and stayed one night at the Sonesta. When we checked in they had a mix up on our rooms and they were not ready. I had to be on Zoom calls but had no room. The front desk staff sprung into action and at NO COST they set me and my business partner up in a conference room with high speed internet so we can do our Zoom calls. They did fix the room mix up and make sure we were happy. The hotel was very busy with weddings and the film festival but took the time to make things right and make sure I had space to do my Zoom calls.
Lots of room... for improvement

The Sonesta Bee Cave Austin is a beautiful hotel inconveniently located in the outskirts of Austin, where nary an Uber can be found after 10 PM, so if you are planning to stay there, RENT A CAR. On a positive note, it is walking distance from a fabulous mall that has almost every chain store you can think of and lots of good restaurants. Upon check-in, front desk omitted to tell us that breakfast was included in our rate, so that was kind of a bummer because we had forgotten that, and only realized it later. It would've been nice if the hotel had gotten ahead of us with that. Housekeeping will only take your trash and won't make your beds or restock towels as part of their COVID policy, which is not visibly displayed ANYWHERE, and front desk did not communicate to us on check-in. I had to intercept a housekeeping lady for clean towels and on checkout day, I could not fix myself a cup of coffee because housekeeping failed to restock (they keep coffee things stored in the tv cabinet). I addressed this with the Front Desk and they kindly offered me to take an item from the fridge (because it was too early for the coffee cart). Anything you want/need has to be expressly called for, which in my case was impossible because the phone was broken. No lines out. Disappointing experience considering the hotel category.
I've stayed at better Motel 6s

Where to begin. Do not stay here if you are hungry since they have no in-room dining option or even on-site food option. Do not stay here if you want to bathe since they give you no towels and you have to ask three times in order to get them and then they consider the towels extra. Do not stay here if you want to use your phone because it's impossible to hook up to their Wi-Fi and first they'll send a janitor to help you with the Wi-Fi situation only he'll sheepishly tell you he's too dumb to do it really literally too dumb that's what he said.
So then you have to go to the front desk where they tell they don't know if their Wi-Fi is up or down or not and gee maybe you should go to the local AT&T store and see if they can connect you to the hotel's Wi-Fi. Oh and be sure not to misplace anything because if you have to make any inquiries at the front desk you are told Oh no ma'am we our lost and found person isn't around now they might be in tomorrow I don't know. To be fair the beds were moderately comfortable though lacking in pillows.
