More about the hotel
Not aimed at tourists
Not quite what we expected, mostly because it doesn't seem to be a hotel aimed at tourists. Getting someone to understand any English was near to impossible. Not really ideal for families with young children - safety wise. Slippery shower floors, and balcony doors opening up to unsafe balcony not able to be locked by adults. "Breakfast" was in a filthy restaurant, with nothing that we recognised as edible, apart from a couple pieces of fruit. Floors were dirty in the apartment. No touristy information or pamphlets to be seen, so if you plan on staying here, organise all your day trips before leaving home! As non-smokers the smell In the hotel, and ash trays in the apartment was off-putting.
Very happy to stay here again
Great service from lovely staff. Excellent breakfast!
Nice rooms, bad location
The hotel was nice, and they are a "apartment hotel" so our room had a kitchen which was nice. The rooms were clean and big with TV and HBO. There is a convenience store downstairs and we went on a nice privae tour to the Great Wall arranged by the hotel. The location is the hotel's real downfall. It is not close to any subways or attractions. You need to take a taxi and if possible have the hotel name in Chinese or the phone number. There isn't wifi or computers to use either, which was disappointing. There are also no internet cafes nearby so if you don't have a laptop to use there ethernet cable, you are screwed. It was also a bit hard to find a restaurant close to the hotel. There were a few small chinese restaurants but we couldnt understand what anything was. We also needed to book train tickets, which they couldn't help us with. However, luckily there is a train ticket operator close to the hotel on the way to "super house international" little shopping center. (right, left, and left at bridge then straight) So the rooms were great, but because of the locations and lack of amenities I would not stay here again.
Feel at home while in China!
The Chaoyang District in Beijing China is a very busy place, home to the Olympic park, many foreign embassies, Sanlitun Bar Street, and Silk Street. Therefore, it would make sense that any traveler would like to stay close to the action. A great place to stay at an affordable price is the Beijing Sentury Apartment Hotel, with 300 rooms and suites on 23 floors. Accommodations range from a one bedroom with a king-sized bed to VIP business suites that will accommodate the lone adventurer, family vacation, or jet-setting businessperson and make them feel at right at home. Spacious and luxurious, the one bedroom suite allows for a separation of work and slumber with the outer room containing many amenities such as a kitchenette, but an added washing machine is a welcome bonus. I did spend one night in a room like this and it was amazing, but impractical for my needs. The remaining six days of my stay were spent in a king-size bedroom with a kitchenette containing a microwave, mini-fridge, sink, plates, bowls with chopsticks, coffee maker, plenty of cabinets for any food items and a dining table with chairs. Rooms also have broadband internet connection, excellent air-conditioning ( a must for the summer), closets, reasonably sized bathrooms with showers, a big screen TV (with some international channels) and a wide bay window with an excellent view. If you have any problems with the internet, tell the front desk and they will send someone to your room ASAP to resolve your issue. I will mention that they need to give more toilet paper, and it's hard to find a cab for a decent price from the silk market back to the hotel. If you use one of the many bus routes, you'd have better luck getting home from an excursion than with the sometimes crabby taxi drivers. There is a small market in the lobby and two-story grocer around the corner if you want to cook or need some snacks. If you want to have a nice meal, venture up to the 24th floor and visit the Zhi Wei Xuan Restaurant, which offers Chinese and European options. You can also order in room service or call for a delivery from the surrounding restaurants. The staff is helpful, efficient, and friendly, the rooms clean and large, and it's easy to feel like you never left the comfort of home while staying at the Beijing Sentury Apartment Hotel.
terrible service, unreasonable charges for luggage storage
We stayed in Beijing Sentury Hotel and booked through internet (Silver Point Reservation, Chinese web). We traveled with our kids (6 and 8 years) old and thought the appartment hotel would give more room for kids to run around. well, besides that, we don't feel any other advantage by staying in that hotel. The sewage smell from bathroom was terrible. Internet cable was hidden behind sofa. there is a fridge in the room, but unplugged. It took hours to get fridge cool down. Okay, we can put up all these. By the time we have to travel to other part of China and booked a room for coming back. We need to store our luggages for being away for a few days. We were told by the hotel that we have to pay storage fee, RMB20 per luggage per day. We have total 5 luggages (4 small and 1 big) and we have to pay RMB500 for storing them for five days! We travelled around world. This is the first time we experienced charging for storing luggage at hotel! We asked for manager for explanation and manager refused to meet us. We booked another hotel and sent our luggage there for storage for free.
