Not clean, no sound insulation

This is a newer Courtyard with a lot of great features, including a nice design and spacious rooms. However, the hotel needs more attentive management and more attentive housekeeping.
Zero Marriott Bonvoy elite status recognition at check-in. None of the preferences specified on the reservation were fulfilled.
My room was dirty. Hair and pink mold in the walk-in shower, stains on the side of the toilet, and hair on the toilet seat. It took two days to get the room properly cleaned. This is another example of how eliminating daily housekeeping under the guise of the pandemic only results in dirtier rooms.
Even worse, there was no sound insulation. I could hear everything in the room next to me and in the room on the floor above me. Just horrible for a newly built hotel. Did the architect and designer never stay in a hotel before? In the middle of the night it sounded like the person above me and next door was walking inside my room. I actually woke up thinking someone was inside my room.
The bar and bistro was never open at night when I stayed and the breakfast selection is very limited and not the full menu normally at Courtyards. At night, this an issue because there aren't many restaurants nearby. Other than Applebee's, you pretty much have to drive 10-15 minutes into St. Joseph for anything decent to eat.
Most of my issues were addressed and management comped some points, etc. But even if housekeeping improved, they can't do anything about the lack of sound insulation.
Don't bother if you like clean rooms

We stayed here for a few nights in June. We rented 2 rooms for my parents and our family of 3. The hotel is newer, so things are in good condition. However, we found having daily attention to our room to be a big problem. There is one piece of paper posted in an elevator that says your room "may not be cleaned every day," but to request cleaning if you wanted it. Both my parents and ourselves requested cleaning, but it still never happened. I called several times to request that our trash be emptied and our toilet paper and towels refreshed, and nobody showed up. We were so frustrated after 2 nights we cancelled our 3rd night.
Cannot wait to go back!

Our travel plans changed and we stayed last minute at the Courtyard and wow was I glad we did! From the moment we walked in everything was top notch. The manager Joy went above and beyond not only during check-in but throughout our visit. The hotel was spotless, the room was beautiful and very comfortable. We had been vacationing all week and this was by far our best experience!
We are already planning to book again next time we are going through. It's such a benefit knowing where you are staying. Thanks to Joy and her team for an amazing stay!

We were on a bus tour and our scheduled stop was for another hotel in another town. Even though that hotel had confirmed our reservations, they did not have rooms for us. Our tour guide made some calls and the staff at this Courtyard in Benton Harbor, MI had enough rooms to accommodate all 45 people on our tour. We had to wait a bit, but manager Joy Stehlik and her staffed managed to get us all keys and a place to sleep in short order. In addition, the folks that made breakfast for us all did it in a timely and extremely friendly manner. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. In addition, the hotel looks new and modern, extremely clean, with ample outlets, great linens, and I pillow that I wanted to take home with me!
Superb hotel experience

From the moment we first walked in the door, we noticed that it was clean, and that the staff were friendly and welcoming. Obviously, cleanliness in a hotel is critical, and in this regard, they shined. The common areas and the room were both immaculate.
Every morning when I entered the lobby the front desk staff (if not busy with another guest) would cheerfully greet me with a good morning that seemed genuinely warm. It created a very welcoming aura. In the evening we would occasionally stop by the bar to have a beverage and a light snack. There was a variety of different seating options available to enjoy.
We did have one incident where a group of rowdy guests who were apparently attending a wedding took over the lobby. The staff did try to get them to settle down, but they had brought in a few coolers of beer and had become belligerent with the staff. We left before we could see how that played out. It ended up being only a minor event.
I was also impressed to note that this property offered electric vehicle charging.
The bed was comfortable, and the climate control was very responsive.
Lastly, I was further impressed by the availability of bedside charging, both in A/C and USB-A options. Nice!
Between the staff, the cleanliness, and the facility itself, I highly recommend this excellent hotel!
