Snowed in and needed a room

While on the slopes all day, Big bear received about a foot of fresh snow. The drive down was looking to be terrible. However, finding a last minute room in Big Bear on the weekend is very difficult. So when the BigBearInn had several rooms, I knew it was going to be a dive. And sure enough the building is so old, that it should probably just be demo'd to start over for something new. The only plus is that you can walk to the village and there is a nice fireplace in each room. The shower made me feel dirtier than when I got in,and the shower door didn't close. But at least I didn't die on the highway or freeze to death in my car.

HORRIBLE! And “Customer Service” is non-existent! We stayed at Big Bear Inn (formerly named Knights Inn) for one night. We arrived late from OC and just wanted hot showers and to sleep. When we got to our room, it was freezing and come to find out the heat didnt work at all, we put it on the max and it didnt turn on. The front door didnt lock, my friend had to literally pick up the door to line it up with the lock to lock the door. My friend went to take a shower and despite letting to water run for more than 10 minutes (which is so wasteful!) the water never got hot, it didnt even get remotely warm. He decided to not shower and just go to bed. The walls are paper thin so we heard every single thing our neighbors said. It felt like they were in the room with us. The sink leaked water into the floor and looked like it could fall off the wall at any minute. It was 18 degrees that night. The next morning we went to talk to the office and ask for another room. We were told there werent any rooms left, the thermostat was on the wall and it takes the water 10 minutes to warm up. The was the only “customer service” we were offered. No other solutions were offered. Is it SO much to ask to have a door that locks, warm water and heat? These are basic, simple things! Dont book this place, its not worth it. To Big Bear Inn - DO BETTER!!!

Pros: --Location is close to the main strip in Big Bear Lake Cons: --Owners were very unfriendly. --TV had very few working channels. When reported to the owners, they told us, "Well, the TV simply just doesn't have many channels." Owner did not desire to fix the DirecTV satellite causing the issue --Owners did not turn on the heat when it dropped into the 40s at night. Room was freezing. --Deadbolt on the door did not lock. Very ironic because there was a sign in the room recommending use of the deadbolt. --We went to complain about these things and ask for concessions, but the owners only service the front desk from 9AM to 9PM. God forbid there weren't any issues outside of those hours, because no one would have been around to fix them. Please stay away, and do not give this hotel your money or business.

Pro: 2 start for location. Con: This place really tries to rip you off. Booked online for 2 nights totaling $260 tax included. When we checked in they said the room was $45 more a night totaling $399. I asked how 260+45+45=399 and they said it was tax. I processed to tell them with tax it would be 363. They changed the price and said they would give it to us to 380, than 370 and finally 360. It's run down, dirty and if you're worried about covid this place is definitely not for you. The light switches were so filthy and rooms had cobwebs. To top it off there was no hot water in the shower and the heater didn't work.

***People pls do not stay here (someone) maintenance/housekeeper are thieves. my son left behind his Nintendo switch in room #208 I came home (la area) and around 5ish I started getting notifications that someone was entering the pin incorrectly on the device from the parental control app on my cell. I immediately called the hotel and amid (front desk) adv nothing was given to him but would ask his maintenance & housekeeper and that after I checked out on Monday the rooms are not rented again until Friday, so no one would go in the room but maintenance & housekeeper. so I was in contact with them since supposedly they have been looking for it even in the blankets even after i kept telling them about the notification that they were trying to use it and they still used that as an excuse (we are looking and we didn't take it). well someone has now created an acc under a Juan and the maintenance guys name is Juan (he is an older man that does not use technology nor has kids). housekeeper is Susana and she said to me that she wouldn't take it but that her 13yr old has a small device, she kept using excuse after excuse and she has kids (I know this because front desk/owner amid was telling me this all along and that they had a language barrier as the employees only spoke Spanish). I was nice enough to even offer them a reward & call me to return it without questions asked so neither one of them lose their jobs but they still never returned anything. so you know if someone in big bear area is trying to sale a blocked Nintendo switch it belongs to me. ***btw I also posted a review on the link that they sent me on email for my stay and guess what it is not posted here on their web they only show good reviews. this device was given to my son in Dec. by a relative that passed in Jan. these people still don’t care no management control or accountability. the hotel heater is not up to code and does not have a thermostat. the smell of the room/hall way was just horrible. these people will just steal your belongings if you leave them behind and no one will take accountability. if someone is trying to sale you a switch with no charger & 3 games w/ Mario cover that is my son's and that it is blocked so do me a favor and message me and I can certainly give you the reward. but pls get it and return it to me.
