Nice hotel with amazing view over the valley

Nice hotel situated in the small "town" of Björkliden. Can be reached by the trainline Kiruna-Narvik or by bus from Kiruna airport. The rooms are small and a bit old, but have everything you need and the view over the valley is absolutely unique and amazing. A gym and a sauna is available in the basement. The lobby is very cozy and a nice place to sit and have a drink/snack. The attached Restaurant "Lapporten" is nice but a bit pricey. Take note that it is the only restaurant in Björkliden! If you want to eat somewhere else, you need a car. We stayed at Hotel Fjallet for 2 days and did some hiking trips in the Abisko national park (10min by train oder 1,5h by foot). The breakfast is worth to mention, it is very good and they have a huge selection of different foods and drinks.
What a view !

We just spent one night here as a stop on the train between Narvik and Boden . Hotel was a short walk uphill and appeared like an oasis on a very cold snowy afternoon . The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly . Our room was a short walk away and was very clean and had the most superb view of the lake , mountains and ski slope . The bathroom was a little dated but that was a very minor detail .
The lobby bar area was really cosy and lent itself very nicely to encourage people to chat and talk about their adventures of the day . There are plenty of excursions you can do from the hotel if like us you were not ski ing . We were happy just to walk around the locality and take in the absolutely beautiful views . Definitely recommend a stay here , food was also very good and reasonably priced too.
no hot water shower in cabin 16

On Feb 8, after I reported that cabin 16 had no hot water in the shower, I went to dinner in the hotel restaurant. After dinner, I was informed that the problem had been fixed. Went back to the cabin, still no hot water. Reported it again (at the front desk/ reception) on my way out to look at the aurora - front desk gave me the keycard to cabin 26. Keycard worked but would not open the door. Bad experience.
Cabin 16 interior is nice - 2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining area, heated interior, sauna, heated racks to dry clothes. Would have been perfect but unfortunately, COLD shower. For the sake of future occupants, please fix it and management double-check that shower indeed has hot water.
Well maintained hotel

Even this hotel is set for ski activities, they gave much assistance for those people not for ski. The staff is friendly and really want you to have a good time right here. For example, we just went there for northern light and relaxation, so they gave us really good hiking route and good place the see northern light. (Yes, the best place is just in front of the door.)
Cosy and convenient

Had an amazing stay here. The staff were super friendly, helpful and resourceful. Jonathan who checked us in on the first day filled us in on a whole bunch of useful information to help us plan our stay.
All the day trips and excursions which were offered were well organized and easy to participate.
The guides were extremely courteous and their main focus were our safety. Joanna who took us for the night hike was made us fresh traditional Swedish coffee with cheese and dried moose meat in the Aurora hut over an open fire.
The meals served at the restaurant are healthy and well balanced. There’s always an amazing spread for breakfast and the food served is always fresh.
The rooms were well heated, clean and super functional.
The overall set up is clean, safe, convenient and reasonably priced.
Highly recommended !
