Surprised at receptions agressive attitude

Reviewed 2 september, 2021

I must be living in a different universe after looking at other reviews of this hotel ? Certainly, the suite room was very nice, a good size and décor is modern & well done. The bathroom was good but lacking a bathtub? Which I asked for on the booking! Breakfast is good and the local area is fabulous and close to the historic village which is great for a walk and cafes etc. Maybe I’m fussy but we had some annoying issues with the hotel. I made 3 simple requests with this booking weeks before and on arrival none of them had been included. The hotels internal sound proofing is poor and during the busy times you constantly hear other guests and the “socially ignorant” talking loudly in corridors, slamming doors which literally shakes your room. Perhaps it was the room we had above reception but a problem with a constant noise on the first day a mechanical scraping sound above ceiling. OK a few times you deal with it but 60 + times every day drives you mad. Maybe it was the language barrier or a misunderstanding but I went to reception to politely discuss a refund or room change. I experienced the most unprofessional bizarre outburst by the hotel owner / manager I’ve ever seen, it was unacceptable ranting and raving which really put us in a very bad place. That evening we misplaced the room key and my wife asked “a different” night manager for a new one and was faced with an aggressive male with bad attitude who didn’t speak any English (yes I know we are Italy). The bar and social area has no vibe at all and lit like an operating theatre .. the room door lock was faulty you have to literally shoulder charge the door to get it open at times. We arrived back early from skiing and found they’d been showing our hotel room to a group of people ..future guests maybe ? All in ..it was a disappointing experience after visiting Bormio for 9 years and never had a problem before. It’s NOT just about room décor & style ..it’s customer service, attitude and the little things that make a difference Olympia Hotel.

Another fantastic stay at Hotel Olimpia Bormio

Reviewed 22 february, 2020

Just returning from our second visit to The Olimpia Hotel in Bormio. What an amazing place to stay. This small family run hotel could not be more welcoming. The rooms are luxurious and spacious with some amazing views to the mountains. Definitely the friendliest place in Bormio. We will be booking again next year for certain. Thank you!!

Lovely room

The hotel has parking and it is few minutes away from the town center. Check in was very quick and the room was lovely and spacious ( we had a junior suite, suitable for 3 people). Breakfast was ok, nothing special but it was fine for us.

A short walk fro the old town

Reviewed 28 july, 2019

The hotel is located a short walk across the river from the old part of town. Its located with a view to the mountain and ski slopes. The facilities are modern and clean. The bathrooms are spacious with rain head shower. Staff are friendly and were extremely helpful following an urgent dental issue I had. There is also a steak restaurant located on the ground floor.

From the moment we arrived we received a very warm welcome from all the staff at Hotel Olimpia. The rooms are lovely. Clean, beautiful furnishings, and comfortable beds. The views from the front facing rooms over the slopes were incredible. Wide selection of food for breakfast. The Bar is a plus with very welcoming staff, and great selection of drinks. The Keller steak house below the hotel is highly recommended. Great atmosphere and fab food. Also, the rifugio at Bormio 3000 is incredible. Stunning views, fine food and the new panoramic balcony - wow! Highly recommend the Goulash. This is our third year in Bormio and we look forward to returning to Hotel Olimpia. Nothing was too much trouble.. thank you!
