Cute hobbit hut in the woods!

We had such a wonderful relaxing couples trip to the hobbit huts at Oak Lodge Retreat in Brome, Eye.
We had bought a Mon-Thurs 2 night stay on Wowcher for £229. We had to pay a booking fee on top with Wowcher and then also a £10 booking fee with Oak Lodge. Oak Lodge sent a few emails with further info, a waiver, the £10 charge and optional upgrades to your trip. So before the visit it was important to be up to date on your emails but it was 100% worth it.
There was lots of parking, a whole car park. When you parked up there was a toilet block with a fridge, a kitchen sink, a vending machine and a dart board, all outside the toilets. The communal area of the toilet block had a mini travel hairdryer in it and shelving. Then each hut had its own toilets (with a keycode provided in your hut on arrival), each containing a sink, toilet, shower and shelving. The showers were warm but very low pressure. They contained free shower gel and shampoo inside.
The huts were beautiful! So cute! They are called Hobbit Huts but it is a small wooden hut- there's not links with LOTR! There were 3 huts on site (none of the tents I had seen in previous reviews). Each hut had its own fenced area with a place for a fire, a plastic table and 2 chairs. The hut was situated within some woods so there was a lot of shelter. On arrival, we had a bottle of prosecco and two plastic cups in our hut (even though we didn’t pay extra for this). We had paid extra in advance (I think £6.99) for firewood so we had wood, fire lighters and matches in a bag outside the hut. We didn’t pay extra for slippers or a robe or exclusive spa entry, anything like that, just the firwood. At night time, the whole walkway to the huts and the whole spa area came to life with fairy lights, which I thought was a really nice touch (and also meant you didn’t need to bring a torch with you).
Within the hut there were LED colour-change lights, controlled with a remote. There was no electricity so bring your battery pack! They had cute little wooden shutters to cover the windows. Also within the hut, there was a box of dominoes and scrabble. There was a guest book and pen too. And some wet wipes. They had also provided us with bottled water, one large bottle and 2 smaller ones with their own plastic cups. The bed was really soft and really comfy- all bedding etc all supplied. There was a coffee machine and free tea, coffee, milk, sugar. We had brought hot chocolate sachets with us and pot noodles because the coffee machine dispensed hot water. There was no cooking equipment on site so we brought teaspoons (plastic stirrers were available for the tea) and forks for the pot noodles. I do wish we had brought a frying pan for our sausages on the fire though! Our marshmallows and sticks we brought with us were much loved and used!
I didn’t really understand the opening hours for the spa. It said 12pm-9pm but it was locked when we arrived on the first day and stayed locked. At 12pm the next day the door was opened so we headed in and got to use it privately, just the two of us! It later shut again that evening so I’m glad we made the most of it during the day. There were 3 tables with chairs in the spa area, a jacuzzi that was on and ready to go when we went (so we literally just hopped straight in) and a sauna in a little wooden barrel which required lighting with wood, which was provided. We skipped the sauna because we would have only have spent 5 minutes in there anyway. We dragged over a plastic table to the side of the jacuzzi, grabbed the prosecco from our hut and had prosecco in the jacuzzi, which was really nice! It was under cover so even if it had rained, it wouldn’t have been any problem.
Breakfast was provided on both days of our stay. It was self service pancakes, which proved to be a cute little couple activity! Pancake batter, strawberry jam and syrup were provided. You put a spoonful of mixture in a pancake machine, started a timer and then scooped it out using the provided tongs into the provided polystyrene box to eat it with the provided plastic cutlery. You didn’t see another person at all! It was available 8:30-9:30. There was also tea/coffee/hot chocolate available using a machine in the same building.
The road leading to Oak Lodge was not suitable for walking on, there was no pavement. Instead, we drove over to Eye and parked up. There was plenty of public footpaths so we went for a walk starting here through the fields. The town also has its own chocolatier, a little gift shop and a bakery. So we grabbed some treats and went for a walk.
I have started doing a bit more travel now but this is the most covid safe I have felt while away. It was literally just us and two couples. We only ever saw each other when we accidentally were on our ways to the toilets. It was very quiet, peaceful and felt so safe. We never saw anyone else, the bar bit was never open, the breakfast was self-service. We really didn’t see anyone else on site at all- apart from the many rabbits! I cannot recommend enough! Check in was at 3pm, check out was 10am. I really recommend booking for 2 nights minimum because the time really flies!
I camp a lot and go to festivals a lot, for me this was absolute luxury! My boyfriend has never camped before so he was a little nervous about what to expect but he found it absolutely fine.
Overall, it was such a lovely stay. If you’re thinking about going, 100% go!

Located in a peaceful area. In the woods. Me and my partner Tommy really enjoyed our stay for two nights. We stayed in the Zebra Hobbit Hut. The cabin was lovely and clean and had great decor. Loved the lay out. Beds were professionally made and very comfy. We enjoyed the spa area which was also clean. The bathroom was also nice and clean. Our first evening we lighted some logs and had some marshmallows and drinks around the fire. It was a great experience, very romantic and exactly what we needed. We also left a message in the visitors book.
Do not understand how people can be so negative about this place. Its purely about enjoying the finer things in life, without your phone, wifi and hair straighteners it should be about who you are with.So people who have been moaning about this shouldn't come to a nice peaceful break in the woods if you are going to moan about being on your phone etc.
Have read some not very nice and inconsiderate reviews on the place and about the owners and id just like to say you couldn't be more wrong. We was welcomed as soon as we arrived. We both had a lovely chat with Paul through out our stay (great guy) he was very helpful at all times.
Nothing negative to say and highly recommend.
Met our needs - beautiful place

So needed a getaway and come across the hobbit hut, was just perfect. My husband and I have two children who are amazing but we just needed a little break, even from the busy days of being parents and work life. Perfect set up and I have already recommended it to others who I know need a getaway. The only things I will say is, possibly to have a wooden table picnic bench in the outdoor space of the hobbit hut, as I am a bigger woman, I found my seat was sinking, also scared the legs would give way, I asked the owner if I could use a seat from the spa area, he was kind and helpful, to meet my needs. Also after having one to many drinks there could be a step outside the door, it was a bit of a drop. Hahha, other than that, I will definitely be going back there. Many thanks.
Escape away in this climate

We have had a lovely relaxing experience. In this climate we highly recommend it! There are 3 hobbit huts which are spotless & clean with your own bathroom in a shower block. It has a hot tub with no bubbles & a sauna with a comfy sitting area to just sit and chill in. Outside your hut you have a table & chairs & a fire pit so you can sit outside in the woodlands & enjoy the natural environment. The owners are very friendly & helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. On arrival we had a cold bottle of bubbly & the most amazing comfy bathrobes to relax in with our matching slippers. There are plenty of nice quaint little pubs & restaurants around this superb location. We highly recommend this place to just escape away from this crazy world!!! Thank you for everything and keep up your good hard work & effort you have put into this retreat,
