We booked our room before looking at reviews and after reading the reviews I was nervous, but we had a great time! Our room was nice and clean and all of the employees were really nice. If you're looking for a modern hotel, this isn't it and you'll be disappointed. However, if you're looking for a quaint getaway in a unique and peaceful setting, this is a great place. We stayed in the Smith Room and enjoyed it immensely. We wish there had been a light in the hallway outside of our room to make unlocking the door easier, but that is a small thing. We were happy with our overall experience.

Planned my wedding there for August 2020. I was given a total price that was agreed upon I paid in full the month before my wedding. At check in for our wedding they added on lots of ambiguous charges an required a payment. We were between a rock and a hard place because we were planning on getting married that Weekend. In total they took us for about 500 more than agreed upon. The venue was not as described either... dead flowers all around the property, gardens filled with weeds, branches and debris in the gazebo we were supposed to be married in with
broken wicker furniture. They forgot our breakfast room service the day after our wedding also, broken fireplace in our room. What a disappointment for our wedding. The owners refuse To discuss or make any amends to us.
Waste of money.

In the time of Covid, we booked a getaway for our 30th wedding anniversary. Choices are slim, so we tried this place.
We paid $1000+ for 2 nights plus we added a few extras: romantic candles for after our anniversary dinner. An outdoor massage for 2. An oligarchs dinner for 2 to our specifications.
None of the staff wore masks.
The room was tired. The porch is peeling, the furniture had no cushions and was coming apart and the ash bucket was filed with old cigars.
The place has well water that smells horrible.
The candles ($89) were unlit and left in the room at arrival. No explanation why.
The day of the message there was a single masseuse and they refused to do it outside. The masseuse wore no mask.
we were asked to provide our dinner & drink preferances, dislikes, and allergies. None were followed.
How can you have a romantic massage for 2 with a single masseuse?
The owner does not respond and the staff cannot correct the bill.
The owner will respond to a poor review, but only to make excuses for anything said and deny responsibility. Beware.
We made next year's anniversary plans somewhere else while stating here. That says a lot.

This place is an absolute JOKE!!! Stayed here for a couple of days in early Oct, and the only good thing about this place is the Innkeeper that bent over backwards for all the customers by herself. The owner I still have not got a response from wont give a refund to save her life!! The room would have been beautiful if it was cleaned! There was LEGIT poop in toilet, and hairs all over the shower, hot tub, and the white bedding! Breakfast was cold before they got it to our room, and so many extra charges for things I didn't even get! Thank goodness my bank sided with us instead of the money hungry owner that refuses to give us a refund for a $230 dinner we didnt even get to have because there was no chief. The one time i did speak with the owner she was just extremely rude! She was yelling and screaming at us trying to tell us we did have the dinner for 2 and that she would not give us a refund and basically called me a liar just to keep the $230 for a candlight dinner we NEVER had!! no mask on any of the employees, and a so called OZONE machine that suppose to sanitize the room that's not even supposed to be used for this kind of property! I've done my research on these! She also treats her staff very unprofessional yelling and screaming at them! She needs to be shut down, and we are taken step for that! No we dont want a gift of $50 off of a 2 night stay because we will NEVER be back. We have made complaints with the bbb, and the department of labor, the health department and so on!! HOPE THEY SHUT HER DOWN JUST BECAUSE OF NOT DOING YOUR PART FOR COVID EITHER!! You know they cant wear mask there because there a lot of stairs hahaha WHAT?!?!

My husband and I wanted to get away for our first wedding anniversary and we decided to give Hideaway a try. Before our trip, we called multiple times to go over their Covid precautions and they assured us they were taking all necessary precautions. After our multiple hour trip to get to the inn, we were informed the staff wasn't required to wear masks. We didn't feel safe so we left and drove all the way back home. After being incredibly unresponsive, the owner (who I have yet to make successful contact with, she isn't responding to us) will NOT give us a refund for our very expensive stay and dining reservations. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR RISK YOUR SAFETY OR HEALTH AT THIS PLACE! Not only is it old, but any place with this horrible customer service does not deserve your time or money.
