More about the hotel
Terrible
This hotel was booked by a friend for myself as I had a long stopover in Buenos Aries, the hotel was chosen due to the positive reviews found online and the hotels advertising. However, my actual experience was far below anything I expected and contrary to the advertised service. This hotel is a long distance from the international hotel so not convenient for transit travellers furthermore the private pickup service was not a car as was requested but a van also the operators of the van were impolite. Quality of the rooms was in poor condition and unclean nothing like the photos on the hotel website. There was mould in the kettle the shower did not work and the curtains would not close fully so difficult to sleep. I also had an uninvited worker come into my room while I was trying to sleep which disturbed me deeply and made me feel unsafe. When I attempted to approach the desk management about the cleanliness my concerns were not addressed and they were extremely rude telling me to take it or go elsewhere. They made me feel bullied and intimidated. Some of the other workers tried to be helpful but the front desk team were inept in customer service. I would not recommend this hotel, especially to females travelling alone as felt I was considered a second class citizen.Te
Ideal for Couples Visiting Palermo
My wife and I spent three nights at the Atempo Design hotel in early January. The hotel is situated in the southwest corner of Palermo Hollywood and the greater Palermo neighborhood. We found it ideal as it was easily walkable to other areas within Palermo, which is littered with beautiful cafes, shops, and restaurants, but just far enough away for some quiet when we needed it. We spent most of our days exploring the area, and the hotel was the perfect launching pad and base to recharge. Regarding the hotel, it felt more like a service apartment than a hotel, in a good way. They offer two room types: studio and loft. We booked and stayed in a loft, but due to a slight initial mixup, we got to see both. Each room has a balcony which overlooks one of two sides of the building. Depending on the floor, this will give you a view of the city and the cobblestone street below, or the pool in the back. There is a grill built into the deck, which some might appreciate more than others.. The rooms were spacious and had a modern industrial feel: concrete and vinyl, steel and wood. We liked it, but I understand this look isn't for everyone. The quality of our bed was among the best we experienced in our travels throughout Argentina. The air-conditioning in our unit was impeccable. Despite being in a fairly active area, we had no complaints regarding noise from our neighbors or the street. Each of these details contributed to a very comfortable sleep experience throughout our stay. We woke up each day refreshed. There is definitely room for improvement: different areas of the room show signs of wear and could use replacement, including the furniture and carpeting in the bedroom area. The pool didn't look inviting, but I suspect this will be the case at most boutique hotels with nominal outdoor pools. The breakfast in the lounge was pretty basic, but again, no surprise there. The lounge area itself was comfortable and well-maintained. Otherwise, the service throughout the hotel was excellent. We had several special requests which were handled smoothly, including baggage storage and several batches of laundry. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy the Palermo neighborhood for an extended period of time. If they can keep up this level of quality, I would come back in a heartbeat.
Very well situated & comfortable
This is my second time staying in this apart hotel, & it has been disappointing. The service used to be much better, the apartment is a bit run down. It’s very comfortable and it’s very well situated. The kitchen doesn’t have a rubbish bin, some lights don’t work. The manager needs to start getting on top of this details, before the quality of the apartments goes down hill
Very satisfied
I booked this hotel on Expedia shortly before my visit - a conference at University of Belgrano. After I booked it I read some reviews here and I was a little concerned. However, I really enjoyed the stay. My room was large and clean. It was very well equipped - minibar, kettle, microwave, stove. Almost a suite than a hotel room to be honest. There was a table with plates and cutlery that I didn’t use. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. I had travelled a long way (from UK) and arrived really early. Reception managed to check me in three hours before the normal 3pm time which I appreciated. The breakfast was great. Mainly continental but very nice in my opinion. And there was some hot food - bacon and scrambled eggs - which I had one day and enjoyed it. The pastries were delicious and there is fruit and yoghurt every day too. Plenty of choice in my opinion and great quality. I particularly enjoyed the homemade jam. Bed was really comfortable. Free wifi - though not fast enough to have a Skype video call home. The hotel is overall quite stylish. Any negatives? The pool area is really small and not worth bothering with. I might think differently if I came in the summer! Although the room is really clean some of the walls are marked which doesn’t give the best first impression. I would certainly consider staying here again if I came to Buenos Aires again.
Disappointing and expensive
Hi stayed at Atempo, because my usual hotel in Palermo was full for the period of my visit. As per my company's on-line booking tool, Atempo was similar category and price of my usual hotel and in the neighborhood. On the plus side: very large room and good location. That`s it. I don't understand what the classification "Design Hotel" means. If it means "Small hotel", "Limited facilities" and "Sofa in the restaurant", then Atempo qualifies. The daily rates are the same as my usual hotel, but (i) there is no gym (which I tend to use) and (ii) the breakfast is very poor. At 8:30am, there were no fruits and no egg, and 1 slice of bacon. I asked for egg, which took 15 min to be prepared. They did not bother to make more bacon (although that is irrelevant for me). The room had a complimentary bottle of water, which is not replaced by a new one for the 2nd day of the stay. Most of all, a few days before the start of my trip, I had to cut my trip from 3 to 2 nights. At check-in I asked to change my check-out. They told me that this was not possible anymore, so they made me pay for the full 3 nights of the original reservation. I'm not coming back to this hotel anymore.
