Great location but very, very basic hotel with owner in wrong profession.

Worst hotel I’ve stayed in in years. The owner was most unwelcoming. Though several languages listed he only spoke French, ok but don’t list others. Signage to room literally non existent and when asked him he stormed off In Direction of room waving his hands in a parody of a French hotelier even giving a French shrug, was rude and dismissive. As for the room it had a comfortable bed and a lockable door. No water, no tv, no Curtains or blinds, no extra pillows available, no working clock in fact no decorative touches, no safe, no kettle, no glasses, no where to store clothes just some hangers on a pole in front of the mirror, no soundproofing and the metal shutters only opened on 1 of 3 windows so overall not great. Asked for gluten free breakfast reply gluten free NO. We are ion a 14 day road trip and by far the worst hotel but is in a great location.

Simple but well renovated hotel. Very devoted team and new owner. Amazing view and location. Good breakfast on the nicest terrace or garden. A great experience. You can also go there for a meal or a drink. Don't miss it if you re in the area. Wonderful walks all around.
Good local food in a lovely setting

Situated right on the river Célé, the restaurant has a large shady terrace with views of the river valley and magnificent cliffs above the town. The menu offers a range of local specialities. We had the dish of the day: grilled duck breast in a honey and orange sauce. Excellent! (The meat was served very pink, so ask for extra cooking if you want it well-done.) The nut and caramel tart finished off the meal, all washed down with a very acceptable local Cahors red. Definitely a good choice for a meal before or after being awed by the 29000-year-old wall paintings in the famous Grotte de Pech-Merle.
Great hotel in Cabrerets

We stayed in Hotel des Grottes du Pech Merle so we could visit Pech Merle the following morning. The hotel was charming, the staff friendly and helpful, and the food delicious. We enjoyed eating on the terrace. We originally thought we could take a train from Paris to Cahors followed by a bus to Bouzes Bas and then a taxi to Cabrerets. The hotel told us that taxis are scarce so we rented a car in Cahors. That was good advice.
Lovely hotel in beautiful setting

We really enjoyed our brief stay. The hotel has a lovely restaurant with a terrace overlooking the Cele river - a real highlight of our trip. There was also a small pool. The staff were all extremely helpful. The breakfast was excellent and there was a secure area to leave our bikes. A great, highly recommended hotel. Cabrerets is also very interesting (as is Marcilhac about 10km further up the Cele). The walk to the Pech Merle caves is about 20 minutes but quite rough and uphill - worth it though. As stated in many reviews it's best to book the caves.
